Actually many of scrolls were done this way to easly wrap it while being read read, and to make it not wrap automagically when unwrapped or left (in the times when paper were made out of leafs, animal skin etc. stuff which may break when gets stiff when getting dry).

Regards.
But you can only show a drawing to illustrate it? If scrolls really curled like that, shouldn't there be a picture of one somewhere?

I dont think that it would typically be rolled in opposite directions...but I am sure their is not a one true way to do it. generally I have seen the scrolls with rods in each end..in those cases both sides are rolled inwards such as this image shows..others i have seen like the toilet paper image on the first page of threads. I see the scroll that rolls in opposite directions more artistically pleasing, but that may just be me. :) Image[/img]

I think I like that idea. :)
But we'd need a pop-up bitmap that shows the content of the scroll.
Something like this?

Just a two-colour quicky.
what about the books ? the books are useful for to know the universe, the bread making and the heroic novels.

I have quickly tried to follow Modanung's way, but need somes improvements.

Yea, nice work VxD. It could ofcourse be greatly improved, but it's a good start.

btw, what VxD meant with "the books are useful for to know the universe, the bread making and the heroic novels." was the following:
Scrolls can only be used for small amounts of information, we also need books that can provide it's readers with information about the world of mana, tell them how to make bread or even tell tales of old about heroes and heroins, the renegades of tmw that formed it to what it is now.
A bit like in the Elder Scrolls. I loved the book "ABC for Barbarians" in Morrowind btw. :)

The first book to be written that comes to mind, aside from a TMW overall topic, would be the legends/history of shiroi's jungle....if we can ever get it pixeled. There's a book there, and, both books and scrolls can be starting points for quests.

thanks that makes much more sense to me :)

I thought I would create more scrolls to try to revive the development/interest in them (plus, its something that is simple that allows noobs like me to contribute). Based on the elements from the wiki article, http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/Elements , I have began creating scrolls to match aech element. The elements, including the sub-catagories, are Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Lightning, Ice, Wood, and Metal. I foresee these scrolls being used for augmenting magic spells or casting magic spells for each branch of element that spell and scroll is related to. I have based these off of the latest version DryGravyTrain created because I felt they fit the role the best. Here is what I have done:

Fire Scroll

Ice Scroll

Earth Scroll

Lightning Scroll

I am fairly happy with the fire and earth scrolls, however, I would love to hear how they could be improved. The Ice Scroll seems like it is bordering what could be the Water Scroll (of which I did not create), so I am not sure what to do... I am not terribly happy with the Lightning Scroll.

I think the shape could be improved before going on with different elements. Also try to add different colors to make them more alive. Light blue is not enough to give the feeling of ice.
