Notice that the problem isn't that the file doesn't exist, but that decompressing fails. This could be because of a faulty PhysFS version (like 1.1.0 instead of 1.0.1), I guess.

Is there a way to try and fix that? Or is it something that would warrent a recompiling of the source?

If indeed your binary was compiled against PhysFS 1.1.0, then recompiling the source against version 1.0.1 would be worth a try.
