X Equipment Database: Could not find equipment.xml!
The config.xml should be filled with the default values when you start the game and exit it for the first time.

Actually, since we're using cURL, it already supports proxies. At least it successfully uses a proxy configured in GNOME because GNOME sets the appropriate environment variables. I think for TMW to use a proxy on Windows, it will also be a matter of making sure the environment is properly set up.Crush wrote:so we got a new thing for the todo list: proxy support for the updater.
Note however that the first time I launch TMW I also sometimes get an update error, while I normally don't have a problem reaching the website. At least we should improve our updater a bit to handle these problems.
Really? Proxy support in gnome? Well, the updater works fine for me, it's the actual game that shuns me when I'm behind the proxy at work. "Error: Got disconnected from the server". Using Gnome on Fedora Core 6. The update always finishes successfully, i just get the error when I try to login or register.

I have the same problem.
Installed tmw-0.0.22.1-win32.exe
hit play button
got error 'Equipment database: could not find equipment.xml'
uninstalled tmw-0.0.22.1-win32.exe
installed tmw-0.0.22-win32.exe
hit play button
got error: 'Equipment database: could not find equipment.xml'
uninstalled tmw-0.0.22-win32.exe
deleted manaworld folder
Installed tmw-0.0.22.1-win32.exe under 'Programs' rather than 'Program Files'
hit play button
got error: 'Equipment database: could not find equipment.xml'
uninstalled tmw-0.0.22.1-win32.exe
(manaworld folder disappeared by itself)
installed tmw-0.0.22-win32.exe on 'Programs'
hit play button
got error: 'Equipment database: could not find equipment.xml'
Is this a bug?

did the update process finish properly or did you get a message that it didn't in the text box on the update screen?

The update folder is emply and I see no executables besides tmw.exe and uninst.exe. I also don't see and updater button on the initial screen although I do see the message that says 'Updating...' when I bring it up. Once the main screen has settled down I see the word 'Completed' displayed. Is this the updater or am I missing an important step?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Delete whole updates directory and config.xml and and try to connect again...jonrgrover wrote:The update folder is emply and I see no executables besides tmw.exe and uninst.exe. (don't forget to change the server url)
Yosuhara, please read the whole thread before answering. He said he did that a thousand times.
Here is the update folder zipped. Copy the included zip archives into your update folder and it should work for now:
http://www.crushnet.org/TempFiles/tmw/updates.zip
But this is only a temporary solution. When the next update is released you will have the same problem again.
Maybe your updates folder is set to read-only for some reason?
I tried setting my update folder to read-only after deleting the content and the behavior matches your description (updater reports that it finishes succesfully without downloading anything or creating any files in the updates folder).

I checked the updates folder and it is not read-only. I unzipped the updates.zip and then unzipped the zipped items inside it. The equipment.xml file is directly under the updates folder now, and the program still gives me the message 'Equipment Database: could not fine equipment.xml'. I also noticed that the config.xml file which Yosuhara mentioned is empty.
I'm beginning to think there is something quite strange about my computer. It is unclear to me whether this is a bug or something strange with my computer, so, I am quite willing to keep working with you on this if you think this is a bug, and you want to get it solved. This may have happened to other people who simply gave up and decided it wasn't worth the effort to fix. I think it is worth fixing if you do. Thanks so far for your help.

In your updates folder has to be a text file "resource2.txt" and a bunch of zip archives.
You have to keep the individual files in the zip archives or the virtual filesystem won't include them.
