I would recommend every single pixel artist to take a look at NeoGeo games.

In the aspect of creating scenery, look especially into the Metal Slug series. For character attack animation, I would recommend the Art of Fighting series, Last Blade series, King of Fighters series and Garou - Mark of the Wolves.

They're also good games, so no loss in checking them out for other people either.

That video was whack! ... in a good way.

I like the block monster toward the beginning that grew as other blocks were added. Interesting concept, I'd like to see something like that in TMW ... a monster that can fuse with other monsters of the same species and make a big version. Maybe as you fight it, it breaks back down.
