I'd suggest some hacks for phpbb 2.0 to make the growing forum more lucid:
1.) Last Post Topic on Index
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/566
2.) Last Post under Forum Description
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/5522
3.) Upload Pic
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/5782
(Might be useful to upload Pictures directly to the Server instead of Linking to Domains; they could change and some Pictures might be gone)
Browse http://www.phpbbhacks.com/ for more Hacks, maybe you'll find useful ones for the administration of the forum too.
I've had good expierences using this hacks, 1.) and 2.) i tested myself and they'll make the Frontpage less confusing and its easier to find new Topics.
...and they're easily to apply too

Depends on the hacks i think, the first two i suggested just print out some useful information and wont be a security riskkr0n05 wrote:I don't recommend phpbb2 hacks, they add vulnribilities to a board, infact, that's how PHPBB2 really got it's bad rep with hacks. The base only has 6 vulnribilities itself.
IMHO we need a skin change, bad. I love subsilver. :'(
As far as i know, the latest stable version is quite safe too (otherwise Platyna wont use it).

Just so people know, phpBB2 mods will not work with phpBB3, phpBB3 was pretty much a wrote from scratch.
It also uses a new modular system for MOD's called MODX.
phpBB3 default features.
