I am going to work on createing a cellar that leads to 2 cave maps that will connect to the snake cave under map 14.
NPC's are next on my list before I expand this any further.

The maps look quite good but there are a few things you have to fix:
- You saved the maps to the wrong directory on your system and thus broke the paths to the tilesets. So they can not be opened with Tiled. They are
../tiles/woodland_indoor.png
but they should be
../graphics/tiles/woodland_indoor.png
I know how to fix this by editing the .tmx files with a text editor but others don't. So please work with the same directory structure the TMW client uses (save the maps in a directory named "maps" that is next to a directory named "graphics" with a subfolder "tiles" where all tilesets are located). - Note that every map must have a border of at least 20 tiles in each direction.
- Please put the three floors of the building on one map. It isn't necessary to put them all on an individual map. See new_20-1 as an example. You can use TMXCopy to copy your maps to a new one. http://www.crushnet.org/TempFiles/tmw/tmxcopy.zip
- Some tiles (some of the bottles on floor 1 or some cupboards on floor 2, for example) are put on the over layer but the tile beneath them is walkable. This will make it possible for them to overlap a player character that walks below them.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
I was wondering why I was having problem with my tests. This explained ALOT! The only thing I got wrong is the tile paths. I will fix. Thank You for pointing that out to me.Crush wrote:The maps look quite good but there are a few things you have to fix:

I did not know that...Hence another problem...Crush wrote: [*]Note that every map must have a border of at least 20 tiles in each direction.
I didn't know that was possible. I will look and correct.Crush wrote: [*]Please put the three floors of the building on one map. It isn't necessary to put them all on an individual map. Thank you for noticing that. Thats why I chose to post the tmx files. I figured someone might over look them and let me know of any inconsistency. I will correct this.Crush wrote: [*]Some tiles (some of the bottles on floor 1 or some cupboards on floor 2, for example) are put on the over layer but the tile beneath them is walkable. Corrected and Redesigned Maps
Here are the redesigned map files:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/20/ ... 4-1.tmx.gz
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/20/ ... 3-1.tmx.gz
The first One is the Existing map with the building put into it. I noticed that I moved a layer when creating the first draft of the new map. Also The Graphics Paths were corrected.
The 2nd One is the 4 Floors (3 Floors and the Cellar) of Dimonds Cove in the corrected format that Crush told me I need to use. Also I used the correct naming scheme for the file this time. I need to know if these maps are acceptable before I begin the passages.txt and NPC's.
Thank You,

I didn't screw it up this time!
Okay. So it's acceptable? I didn't mess it up anyway? Just checking because this has been a touch and go project with you pointing out the errors.
(EDIT:I did mess up the new_14-1.tmx.gz map!! I just KNEW I botched something! I'll get some sleep and get a fresh start on it later! I just tested it throughly and have to change it yet again! By the Time I get this down I'll be a pro with Tiled!)
Then now I can concentrate on the additions to the Woodland Indoor Tile set.
(Don't worry I will not move an of the existing tiles. I seen the talk about if it would mess up the already existing buildings by adding to the tileset.)
There's lots of room for more stuff. Like the Cellar with the way the walls are. I am going to GIMP up some more proper interior basement walls.
As far as the NPC's goes well thats another thread.
Thanks for you help Crush. This is my first attempt at mapping and now that I have the ability I will work on expanding the forest to the northwest as requested. This was meant to be a small project to learn as I go.

Dimonds Cove...Finished as much as I can.
Here is as much of Dimonds Cove I can finish. I am unable to test this any further. The outside map (New_14-1.tmx.gz) works well. I fixed a few flaws and re-did the whole thing. I made a few mistakes and had to fix them.
The NPC Scripts are in enclosed. Most of them are the normal shops and Inn keeper. Some readable signs. The workers.txt will change into a quest to open the new cave I'm currently working on. I couldn't get the *.wlk files created. I also left out the passages.txt. I had no way of testing them and can't submit something I don't know works.
One new quest is a kid named doug who collects cave snake lamps...
It take 40 of them to complete for 2000gp. (Me and crush discussed this in another post and this was the values he thought would be good.)
I didn't change any of the prices for anything. I didn't want to create a money bug and changing the prices in the rest of TMW is something beyond my power.
I would like to thank everyone for the positive feedback I've gotten in the game for this new map. I would also like to thank Crush for his feedback and corrections of my errors in the mapping process. Most of all I would thank Dimond D. Stone for the wonderful idea and the constant support and fresh ideas that she has.
If anyone would like any changes to be made please feel free to comment on them here and I can see about changing things. I plan on making the new cellar cave next and hope to finish that very soon as to go with this new map into the game.

Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. Has anybody seen this princess I'm looking for?

Can you please put the file on a faster host? I am getting about 1 kB/s bandwidth.

didn't think that it would be a problem...
ahhh.....nm..
I shouldn't have added the mp3 file!
Bloats the file. I don't know of a faster host....oh wait I bet I can find one.
try this one...
I deleted the mp3 from the arch. (I believe you might already have the file already..Clouds Calling.ogg)
I'll test it myself....I just looked for another host and this is one of the first ones I got...

no sorry.
No new items to sell.
If I get the leather patch thing put in I'll be able to make a quest for leather gloves, but thats the only thing I know of that can be added at this time.

When the scripts are added to a mapserver it complains about dozends of errors - as it would be expected from untested files. I created walkmaps for the two maps so you can debug them on a local server. You also messed up the paths to the tilesets in the client map files (seems like you didn't save them to the data/maps directory of your tmw directory - a very common mistake). I corrected this, too. Here is a zip file with the two maps with fixed paths and the walkmaps:

When you have problems with setting up a local server or adding the maps and scripts to it then feel free to ask for help.

That might be the reason for all the errors.
I created a maps dir under tiled. I didn't know that I actully had to save them under the .tmw/data/maps dir. I've made note of it and hopefull I willn't repeat that mistake again.Crush wrote: I created walkmaps for the two maps so you can debug them on a local server. I run Linux and cant get the server to run at all. I am absolutely clueless to how to get it to run. (I ran it once on a windows system...just fine.)Crush wrote:

Getting the server to run is my main hurdle right now.
