The fact that the quest that requires the ore is available would suggest that the ore itself is as well.

If Iron ore was available in game the server wouldn't be using the mobs_db.txt from the christmas event, which it seems to be using.
you can check that by visiting the santa slimes and getting cookies, also the milk drop % is higher.

People would also be walking around in Infantry helms too etc.

Just hang tight for a while.

I double checked the trunk mob_db.txt and it has both iron ore and Santa cookies.

I was curious about this too. People are hammering the yellow slimes, and trying to sell ore for outrageous money, but I went in there and killed many slimes, to no avail. And the cookies and milk are now dropping for me like crazy as mentioned. Is this quest now active? Where do you get the quest? And is the drop rate just really sparse?

This is where I got the number from.

The 'quest' is in the Woodland Village at the blacksmith shop, you have to talk to Nicholas. (AFAIK)
