Leaving TMW Dev team.

Post by i »

All of you for certain heard about "Platyna's GREAT WIPE PLAN".
All of you also heard story of "Rapid Attack Bug" and "Cassino coins abusers".

Since The Developement Team of The Mana World decided to leave "RAB" as is, I'm no longer interested in developing BUGGY game. I think Platyna was right. Anyway that was her duty as "Server Content Developer" to keep game as bugfree as it's possible.

I think I will finish my tilesets ASAP, but not as TMW Developer. They will be signed as "Open Tileset Project" or something like that. They will be released under GPL v.2.

So from now my status is RETIRED.

Thanks for cooperation. I learned a lot during this 3 years of being proud member of TMW Dev.
Special thanks goes to:
Rotonen - for constructive critics
Len - keep doing gr8 job
dariunas - you will be gr8 musician, I'm your fan!
Matt - for GOD's sake, yes! you suck :)

Yep, this isn't a joke.
Its quite good exchange: 1 developer for horde of abusers

I do hope they fix it again so that you don't have to retire.

It's not a matter of fixing bugs.
It's not a matter people in Dev Team.
It's my own decision. No I want to start something on my own.

BTW Platyna :* sorry for posting here your name, It's not your fault. I think that every developer is responsible for his own work.

/ jak powiedzieć że nie lubię jak ktoś się wpierdala w nie swoją działkę? XD /

Once I left, there is no turning back. I really think that GPLish Open Tileset Project might be fun. Don't worry, you will have your piece of tiles from it :) Allacrost maybe too, and any other GPLish game.

I where afraid that something like this would happen.

The fast attack bug is for sure fun, I know that because I used the bug myself, but I really don’t believe that it is what this game is all about.

This game is made to be an MMRPG (massive multiplayer role playing game) and I think it has to live up to that description and the games vision – and if possible the bugs found in the game should be fixed when they are found, just like in any other MMRPG or just any other game. If you want to play a game with fast attack speed, then please host your own server, or go play Nexuiz or OpenArena (Quake based games).

I know it is a testing server (alpha version of the game), and that we run on a really buggy server, and that it where stated “we will not touch eAthena” and “we will use all our power on TMWserv”. But at that time, there was no one around with the skill, or the time to take care of the bugs in the game.

Then it happened, the great scam, when all the abusers found out that there where a bug in the NPC at the casino, and then started to abuse the bug like never before. It was at that time that peavey offered that he would like to fix the buggy server. He first fixed the casino bug, then the zero drop and the most mentioned bug of them all; the fast attack bug.

I agree with all the changes, even though it will take some time to adapt to, but as Platyna said “Better now than later”. That where on the “bug” side of this matter, there is also another side of the matter “Items/money/levels wipe” and I think that we have to wait with that to the new server is ready, but that is just my personal opinion; If it is for the greater good of the game, then go ahead, delete all my items, reset my level and delete my money <--- there you have it, my full permission.

I wish you luck with your new burning passion/ your own project.

That's some bad news...
Are you really sure Iru? Is there something that can change your mind?

Not really because TWM could use my future work.

Yes, I'm really sure. I said that I'm leaving so I'm leaving. I will be observing the forums, but not as developer, rather like independent consultant or player. I hope I didn't brake the integrity of Dev Team. My decision was something what I had to do. I couldn't stand and watch when something wasn't going in right way. Now, from my point of view, there is no need to change anything with game.

Take a look at this, irukard:
[08:20] <b_lindeijer> Sorry for the confusion, but I reverted it since I was under the impression our intensions were not properly communicated.
[08:20] <b_lindeijer> In addition I seem to have confused the reaction to fast attack fix with a reaction on money/item wipe.
[08:21] <b_lindeijer> Consider fast attack switch fixed, rebalancing will follow as necessary. And wipe is under discussion (and is just one of the options being discussed!).
Furthermore, Bjorn and Platyna went on to say that they would hate to see you go. I think it would be worth it to wait at least a week for this to be sorted out, and if you still feel the same, then go.

I already talked to Platyna. I know the situation. Decision is irrevocable, absolute and final ;)
I'm not going anywhere since I left dev team. I just made a decision to not contributing to TMW directly. I don't want to be a part of this team any more. I do like you people, but something inside me just broke, something what can't be fixed or glued. I feel like I do not belong here. And no one can change that. Even Crush the almighty :P

Hi Krzysztof,

it's a shame that your future tilesets won't have a tmw logo on them, but I'm happy you still want to continue your non-finished tilesets. (and you've got a lot of them! :D )

I don't get it exactly why you want to leave this project because of some "RAB" on eAthena since most of the efforts should go into tmwserv - and I don't think there will be port of it to the new server (I certainly hope so) - but I was against the whole fix-eathena-thingy from the beginning anyway.

But I respect your decision and hope you will still be around as player and chat partner :)

I've always liked your works and you know that. :)

You aren't that important anyway, Len is sooooo much better than you, everbody loves him now ;D *pets iru*

btw: I like your non-dev button ^^

First in the Finnish tradition, the shorter the prettier:

Thanks.

-----------

Then to offtopic matters:

I don't see any difference in you working for us or us using stuff from your project.

I wholeheartedly support the idea behind your project.

As for the server, is anyone really so ignorant that they actually claim that the piece of Chocolate Cupcake Ragnarok Online permanovice 2D mockup is TMW?

It's just a technical testing platform for the client. We are pre-alpha for crying out loud. If some people like it, fine. We are not the developers of that game. We are the developers of the client so far and the developers of something really different.

Please direct ALL server related issues into a new topic if you wish to discuss with me about my opinion on this matter. (Or just come say hello in IRC and be aware my client is there 24/7 while I might not be. RTFM and check my idle time and away message.)
This message used to be meaningful.
