OK, You've got a point there. I just thought that that's what you and Bjørn were referring to.
In that case, it would be nice to just link to items.xml later, where editors could just copy the content from there. There wouldn't need to be a link to it, and it could possibly be used as external documentation later, which could be referenced in the help.
EDIT: I guess I didn't see that you already mentioned something like this.

This can be easily automated. A script can periodically get a new items.xml from svn, separate it, etc.Tametomo wrote:... although it would require a separate items.xml for each page...

Wouldn't be necessary if it's already done somewhere else for all items. You would just need to cut and paste the content, and add to it as you like. Also, it's against what Crush said already, because wikis aren't supposed to be machine automated.
Overall, if it's already done by the XSLT, then I don't see much of a need for a script to do it for you.
