Well I think If I would do this for the whole tileset, that most suggestion of dimension will be lost; the snow just looks to overwhelming.

It might be interesting if a few of the larger pieces of the fire crystal somehow ended up in the snow areas. And still retained enough power to warm some of the land around them (an essential resource to the people living in an other wise uninhabitable area)

I envision them as being rather large and jetting up out of the ground

(a rough concept)

An interesting thought just occurred what if the cliff in the snow areas are made of ice crystals

Those crystals are an interesting idea to give the snow area something special.

But I think they are a bit too right-angled. It would look better IMO when they wouldn't point straightly upwards and were a bit skeweded instead.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

I agree, and I'll alter them accordingly (btw... I just turned in my two weeks notice to Wal-Mart, so I'm going to have more free time  )

Much more random organic shapes and variety into how it blends into the grass.

I believe we should create/redraw the basic ground tiles, before we decide upon the final look of any concepts that might sit upon them. (However it is always nice to have some idea overall where we want to go, which is why I use mockups a lot)

for anyone wishes to join this project, heres a todo list:

1.) Recreate the ground tiles using this formate Image
2.) Adding shadows to the trees
3.) Create snow drifts tiles
4.) Recreating the cliffs
5.) Anything and everything!!!

Here is a few reference images from FF6/3(USA), chrono trigger, and secrets of mana 2(USA)/Seiken Densetsu 3.

Well yes, about that one you are absolutely right.

Should we just spend one night on IRC with all the tilesets and put red crosses over everything we want replaced or retouched and come back here to post those images? I've been planning on doing that for a while, but it is not as fun alone.
