Post by AxlTrozz »

This thread is to test if a isometric style building would fit on game or not...

First the concept...

Then the texture and palette...

And the current progress...

Nice, really nice, I don't know if we will install doors but I like it we should find some place to put those images, by the way I'm trying to find something to put at the top of the pillar, any suggestion ?

Brain storming: Something tells me the top would look good if it was made from a different Material (grayish and smooth like glass)
edit: marble maybe (might be hard to create the texture)

As you wish, I'm trying to find something, in the mean time, I added your dark side, heh, you know what I mean ...

* added second version Cristal-box-like-ark (I don't know what I'm doing)
** added third version jade-stone like style

Not sure if this helps

Edit: improved the glass one

also your jade one looks nice (but it might be more effective if the design was something recognizable like a beetle or something. also a little less saturation)

Also could you imagine a town with this style

I’m completely crazy I’ve already imagined the glass with a small particle effect…. And now to show you just how crazy I am: wouldn’t it be spectacular if this were a pedestal for a large statue (like the colossus of Rhodes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus_of_Rhodes ) It would be great to start new players at the base of the statue or have it be the center of a city - its fun to dream

No comment on other than pulling of some "isometric" (we are basically talking about 45 degree walls here aren't we?) things in the game: well, it's quite mandatory for variation. For example the current horrid excuses of city walls should benefit from a little perspective play a lot.

btw didn't you guys noticed that this shape is something that could not exists because it isn't geometric shape. If it is a kind of pillar it at least should be symmetric.

Looks pretty symmetric to me :? :?:
EDIT: Maybe if you could explain what you mean?

I prefer the left-hand one.

So this is the side view of this pillar?

Or rather you aim to make something like this?
side-view2.png

Right now it looks like first one. Is that correct?

its the 2nd (i think) but your looking at the edge 100% head on so you see the edge as a straight line rather than a arch

Image
weather and rain have eaten away at the decorative limestone at the top of the piller
