Quest Writing
We seriously need some quests that aren't just "bring me x of item y and I'll give you a z".
I'm not sure how much this has been discussed already - will we have lots of story-based quests or just random disconnected ones? Are we going to have instanced dungeons or not?
I'd certainly like to see some puzzle-based quests and boss fights, especially ones which need a party to complete.

Re: Quest Writing
There really isn't much you can do for a quest at the moment except "bring me X".
Lazy bum.
Re: Quest Writing
A different type of quest like that would be something like "Meet my friend, Friend at Location and pick up my Item" then you go talk to Friend "Oh you want Person's Item, sorry, I lent it to Brother. He should be somewhere around Location #2." Then you go to Brother,"Person's Item? I brought it to show and tell at school and Teacher took it. She should be at Location #3." Then you get it from her and bring it back to person. He then gives you your reward. You would have Friend Brother and Teacher at hard to find locations.

If you look at the eAthena code, there is a great potential for quests. The only thing that seems to be lacking is the script writers' knowledge/imagination.kr0n05931 wrote:There really isn't much you can do for a quest at the moment except "bring me X".
Enjoyed The Mana World? Then check out Aethyra (http://www.aethyra.com).
Re: Quest Writing
Mostly imagination and motivation.
The main issue with this is that no one is actually doing it. The process would probably need a coordinator.
I propose our Mantis as the coordinator for now: anyone can write there how a quest should be and people who can actually do that stuff can implement from there. (Please do not spam it with crap or we are going to have to start to moderate it heavily.)

This message used to be meaningful.
