Pixel art referrences and possible inspirations
Forum rules
This forum houses many years of development, tracing back to some of the earliest posts that exist on the board.
Its current use is for the continued development of the server and game it has always served: TMW Classic.
I would recommend every single pixel artist to take a look at NeoGeo games.

In the aspect of creating scenery, look especially into the Metal Slug series. For character attack animation, I would recommend the Art of Fighting series, Last Blade series, King of Fighters series and Garou - Mark of the Wolves.
They're also good games, so no loss in checking them out for other people either.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

A fine example of oldschool "doing it all by hand".

Here are some pictures and descriptions of some real weird-looking exotic animals for those of you who don't feel like getting their inspirations for new monsters from generic birds, wolfs and rats:

When mother nature can get away with such weird designs we cang do it, too.

That video was whack! ... in a good way.Rotonen wrote:http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4096264
I like the block monster toward the beginning that grew as other blocks were added. Interesting concept, I'd like to see something like that in TMW ... a monster that can fuse with other monsters of the same species and make a big version. Maybe as you fight it, it breaks back down.
