The only thing lacking is color variation really, that and its too large to be a icon (or even part of a tileset) your Eggplant has better variation

So...Use eggplant coloring style and 32x32? Got it. I'm a little too busy to fix it right now, but will get to it as soon as I have free time. If you have any other suggestions, do share.

~Edit~

Note that this is not the final. I am simply using this as a test to see whether or not I'm interpreting your suggestions correctly. Does this look more like an apple? Do you like the leaf? Things like that. And if I did something wrong, be sure to correct me before I finish this. It'll save me time.

Try making the contrast between the colors higher.

Your using a pure gradient of a single color
but even objects that are red have highlight and shadows that, how do i put this have other colors mixed in with them (i used red/orange for highlights, red/purple for shadows)

all your color is in red so your using a pure red

Once you understand this you should be able to make objects good enough for the game

Ok. I have been progressing steadily, and I would like to thank anyone who gave suggestions, they really have helped. I'll use a wider array of colors. I'm also a tad busy today, and can't do the changes quite yet. I'll probably have free time tomorrow...Again, thank you for your help.

You are actually progressing quicker than most do
And no problem its my job to ensure contributors succeed (in the art department anyway)

Really? Huh. I felt I was going rather slowly...But anyway! I tried creating another apple following your most recent suggestions. I did considerably more shading, but am still not finished, as I must create a transparent background. I made it smaller than 32x32 though. Also, I'm curious whether or not to add the leaf back in.

We're lacking in item icons a lot. The more you push out, the happier we'll be.

I also merged your fruit/vegetable topics a bit for clarity.

Welcome aboard.

what about adding the apple in the first post - and change the topic to something more relevant than "Pumpkin patch!".

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to change the title. Also, I've tried adding a little more color in the apple. It's not done yet, but here it is anyway.

Just edit the first post (your post -> you have rights to edit it) of the thread and change the topic.

Posting work in progress is good for getting feedback.
