Crashing after selecting the server

Post by Elizzie »

I just got Fedora 9 and it came with TMW 24.1. On other computers it has been working great but on my laptop it crashes after selecting the server. It says connecting to character server for a short time at the bottom right before the crash as well. Am I missing something? I'm not the greatest computer person in the world, so I am sorry if this is a stupid question.

Could you run it from the console and post it's output? Also, there should be newer version in your repos.

How do I get to the newer version? All that came out when I ran it from the shell was:

Error: Unable to load emotions!

It looks like it didn't get the updates.

Use your package manager and see if it has a newer version for the package "manaworld".

It doesn't show a newer version. I removed the package and used the yum install in the command line to re-install. Same error, and I can't seem to get it to download a new version.

Please post the contents of this folder: ~/.tmw/updates . If it's empty (or only has resources2.txt), download all the zips from this site and put them there: http://updates.themanaworld.org/.

Um...under ~/.tmw you have this:
confix.xml (file)
tmw.log (file)
data (directory)

Even with hidden files visible (I also checked the contents from the shell), the data directory is the only thing inside tmw directory.

There shouldn't even be a data directory in the tmw folder of your user directory. Are you sure that you are checking in the correct location?

You play as root?

Is that the same account you tried earlier?

Actually no, I've been trying from my home account. I just tried it as root and it worked. *head to desk* Father is saying something about ownership...he might be able to help me fix it...
