[REQ] Equipable item - patchwork quilt

Post by Ruff »

I want to request a patchwork quilt to hide under when you don't want to be seen or are afk. Maybe there can be a quest for it where you have to gather lots of patches. Here is a concept image.

could be difficult to hide your self with such a "patchwork quilt". How do you think the hide part should work?

None may move the way I can
Ever the crooked path

I think the idea is not to be actually hidden, but to show that you are not really there or don't want to be seen, kind of like with the parsley earplugs I suggested earlier, they are more about sending a message than having an actual function. :)

 Hahaha! A marvelous concept! :) And with a quilt the playerset wouldn’t need additional sprites to show the afk status, I assume.

Maybe we should continue the discussion in the suggestions forum? An idea would be to copy the irc commands /away and /back, perhaps with an optional away message.

Hm, but in Ruff's concept image, the player is clearly walking around with the quilt on, since she bumped into a tree. So the idea was not for it to have some kind of default afk function, I believe. :)

I like the idea in general to show the "away satus", but i think its not the best solution with an equipable sprite. The problem is, that people could also wear it when they walk around.

I think it's more of a "I may not respond while wearing this" indicator. It could also have use for other things...

We could also use the infamous cardboard box for hiding.

Properly pixellated, though.

Perhaps an NPC that looks allot like raiden (main char of MGS2) opens a snake-food stand in tulimshar in honorance of an old friend of his (reference to snake eater), and gives the cardboard box in return for some snaketongues-eggs-skins. Or would that be a copyright violation?
In game characters: "5t3v3" and "L "

As long as you avoid spelling out any trademarks or put any graphics into the game which are made by someone else it would not break any copyrights.

Even if you would it would count as "fair use" or "satire protected by freedom of art" under most legislations, but not necessarily all and we don't want to put a lable on tmw like "free everywhere except Botswana, Venezuela and Sri Lanka" for example.

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

Offtopic:

IMO the AFK indication should be done with a snoring particle effect.
