Re: play to the mana world in console laptop
As far as I know TMW doesn't run on the PSP or the DS. It does however work for:
Windows
UNIX
Linux (Minix as well?)
Mac

Mac
Lazy bum.
Re: play to the mana world in console laptop
It's possible to run TMW under Familiar or Opie Linux on Palm Tungsten T5 / TX.
Re: play to the mana world in console laptop
TMW runs on every system when there is a C++ compiler for it, when it can execute software not certified by the manufacturer of the system and when there is an SDL port for it. At least in theory. In practice there might be some other compatibility problems.
Our goal is to make TMW run on as many different platforms as possible. When you have the ability to compile and test software for an exotic platform (like home consoles or portable devices) we would be very interested in your experiences and would be happy to assist you in fixing any problems which arise.

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.
You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
Re: play to the mana world in console laptop
One potential compatibility problem is that some C++ compilers treat int to be 16-bit.
Enjoyed The Mana World? Then check out Aethyra (http://www.aethyra.com).
Re: play to the mana world in console laptop
Do you know any (which have been maintained in the last 10 years)?
I was rather thinking about hardware-related problems like input handling or display resolution and color depth.

Re: play to the mana world in console laptop
Awhile back i almost compiled for the DS. Had to comment out a few lines because there was 5 errors. And i never got around to compiling all the libs it links against. I stopped because SDL for DS isn't complete yet. Once it is, i'll probably give it another go. So far tho it looks to be non-trivial to get The Mana World on the DS.

Well that's awesome KillsTheWeak. I attempted to make a lame, console only (because all I wanted to do is just sit around and talk), ds port a while back and never got past porting the net code to dswifi.

Re: play to the mana world in console laptop
Ah cool. Ya it's better just to wait till SDL 1.3 comes out, so you wouldn't have to port anything.
http://code.google.com/soc/2008/sdl/app ... 518AFD5C03
Is the SDL NDS 1.3. It's currently in their SVN.
Chances are tho if TMW does get compiled, it would need a Slot-2 card with extra ram.
It would work out pretty good playability-wise, because the menu could be set to the touch screen, and the game itself on the top screen. Or when the DSi comes out, the same setup except you could move with touchscreen too, as DSi has dual touch.
