This would all be solved by enabling PvP. :P

We need something else to do instead of camping and hunting, both things I do alternatively.

With PvP enabled everywhere we could:
* Control a territory (by ourselves or with a group) by fighting/driving away other players. This could enable a player or a group to fight rare monsters or get drops without other players stealing drops or kills.
* Organize attacks against other players or groups, randomly or as challenges (announced). Wombat's declaration of war comes to mind. :P
* Spar with friends. Because PvP doesn't have to be about killing enemy players, it can be fun!

Also, if players are conflicting, what better way to handle their frustrations than letting them kill each other! :D

Yeah that'd make TMW much more fun and more realistic. I mean your all fighting monsters lvl'ing then you could go stab someone in the back, haha.

But what about lower lvl'ed players?

I thought about that too...

Maybe have a protected level range (or more than one), where players below... say 20 (example level), can't get attacked by those in higher levels, but they can get attacked by their peers (1-20). From 21+ it's up to the player to survive. :P

Or have a set range permitted (a level 60 player can only attack players whose levels are 50-70, a level 20 player can only attack 10-30, so on...), but if the player has a lower or higher level friend they want to spar with?

I like the first idea better. What do you think?

Edit: Also, as penalty in PvP deaths, you could loose money or non-cloth drops. So, some players would think twice before randomly picking a fight with someone.

Sounds pretty good. Anyway the staff could get this to work would make TMW so much better.

I've always thought PVP was confined to one place for a reason, and I would prefer it stay that way. Enabling pvp everywhere would drive a lot of players from the game who prefer to play with others, not against them.

If something is enabled doesn't mean it must be used. I'm sure not everyone would go around attacking people. And if people just want to sit around, disable PvP in houses and towns.

Right now, not only are we limited to an "arena", but we must also pay for it. PvP in there is boring, there is nothing to defend or to fight for. :(

I'm not sure if the devs have talked about even considering this, but my opinion is it would make the game a whole lot better. More realistic, more strategy, etc..

Well, of course, developers will always have the last word on the matter. I'm only proposing and giving my opinion, but I'm aware I'm no one to say what to do! ^__^ (Just want to clarify, as sometimes these obvious things get lost in written communication.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes this! Just so you know, I'm level 60+, so I can easily be killed if PvP is enabled. :P

I for one will not participate in any group led by a griefer. Count me out of future raids, events, etc.

If you have a problem with a map, why not change it to your liking and send a patch plus explanation to the developers and see if they think it's worth committing. I think that would be much more productive than this rather hostile approach.

I haven't really bothered with reading the thread properly, but you did mention global PVP.

We've had "Killday" events where PVP was turned on globally for 24 hours. I cannot recall when the last of those was held.

It could be time to hold one again. :twisted:

From what I understand, people come into the skull room doing game legal things and your little friends like to do what they can to kill them off. This is also griefing

I've given millions in gp, equipment and items to players. I've helped scores with their quests. Griefing is a tactic. Hypocrisy is weak and you decided to backstab and grief me. As Bart Simpson would say "Eat my shorts!". We can disagree, we can fight each other and we can do it without righteous crap where you think you are so right that everyone that disagrees with you needs to be utterly eliminated from the game.
Current character is "Abolish".

I agree that certian individuals there can be quite unsavory about some things, however my personal method for dealing with such is more ghandi style than ghengus khan. I'm just there and they have to deal with it... usually they spend resources and sacrifice much of what is important to them trying to get rid of me, but I always come back and continue. I've even coded an auto-walkback routine in to my client for when they get me killed. Whatever works, right? :)
