Got something on your mind about the project? This is the correct place for that.

[solved in IRC] Player Protection: SILC instead of IRC?

Post by Wombat »

Friends of mine have suggested SILC instead of IRC for chats because they are more secure. I can access SILC through pidgin just like IRC. I was curious if this might make a difference in protecting players from hacking.

Um...the client doesn't use IRC at all.

I mentioned in "Court Abuse", I received an attack from someone playing this game on my ISP. I'm pin pointing where my attack came from, since it came from interacting with either TMW game, IRC or another source. So I'm asking where I'm not secure. Am I secure in IRC? If not, does it matter? Sorry, should of been more specific.

I'm not sure how much information I reveal through simply playing the game.

Is it easy for others to acquire a user's information by logging into the game server? Also let's say I used an "alternative server" not officially supported by TMW and they were hostile, did I just reveal sensitive information to those that have the server?

No one is anonymous on the internet without an extraordinary amount of effort.

If you have to ask, you've already lost the anonymity game.
