How about making it larger than those mushrooms we already have? It would make a formidable boss monster.

Instead of a recolour, I like to see a different monster (read: bigger)

Recolors are useful, but as Aethyra has found out, can be overdone. Still, they provide some measure of variety with limited numbers of monster sprites.
