It has hands which can be used to great effect combined with above mentioned "cobra flaring" in an attack animation, possibly wielding a weapon of sorts?

The cobra is a bad example, cobras don't have arms. :P

A weapon is a possibility. Maybe a possible reward for defeating him would be his weapon.

Though I really don't care as how he attacks.

The ear flaring, though similar to a cobra, is a standard feature when depicting the mythological Naga creature as monster sprites in many classic and modern day RPG's . I would imagine the serpent lord to be somehow linked to the more traditional Naga race.

The difference I think between this snake lord compared to the Naga, is that the Naga are normally associated with with swamps and water and possesses amphibian features such as gills and a tail similar to that of a mermaid.

Though, on the other hand, its nice to break away from the norm and do something original :)

the snake needs texture and were the creases are it could use some shading from the dark areas could be nice

He's planning it out at the moment, doing the animations and such first, then fleshing it out. Saves time that way.

To wet anyone's curiosity... here's a color test...

Once again, I'm still working on all the mechanics and outline for all of the animations, so this isn't exactly how the end result will look or a reflection on the final movement... just another quick color test :P

Still lookin good Fother J. Great work as always.. can't wait till it's all done. This will surely be the best looking monster in the game. No disrespect to the others.

If helps, I gave him a speed of 175.

(150 is a player, 200 is Jacko)

So he will move faster then a Jacko, but slower then players (in fact, exactly between their speeds)

Though, this might not be the final speed.

The tail is too long, in my opinion. Half the length would be sufficient. But the animation is nice.
