[WIP] Magic Attack Spritesheets
At the moment, #chiza, shows no player movement, so I thought about making an animation for it.
Here is a test, but hopefully it can serve as a base.

Re: Magic-based sword particle?
That would be a good animation for sawing logs. Thats if there was carpentry added.

Re: Magic-based sword particle?
The technical implementation of the current magic system is not my area of expertise, but I doubt that this is currently technically possible. So far I have only seen particle effects triggered by spells, not player animations.
Regarding what is possible with the particle engine and what isn't please refer to the particle engine documentation:
http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/Particle_engine
There is also an unfinished tutorial:
http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... e_Tutorial
We could really need someone who experiments a bit with the particle engine to create some cooler effects for the magic system, because most of the current effects are loveless copypasta and only scratch the surface of what is possible with the engine.
When someone would like to help but needs any help with understanding the particle engine feel free to contact me. I will gladly teach anyone how to use the engine. You won't find a more competent tutor than me - I developed the engine, after all.

- former TMW Pixel artist
- NOT a game master
Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.
You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
Re: Magic-based sword particle?
Hi,
attack animations for the spells (both the one you are suggesting and certain long-range spellcasting ones) would be greatly appreciated! It should be easy to add them.

Re: Magic-based sword particle?
We've had an idea for a generic magic animation. Basically the punch animation with an open palm. New frames would only be needed for base sprite and gloves. All other equipment can duplicate frames.
Re: Magic-based sword particle?
Given more consideration, maybe this is not the best idea, since some spells are not pushed onto a target.jaxad0127 wrote:We've had an idea for a generic magic animation. Though maybe we can add both the pushing action, and another animation for self casted spells.

Re: [WIP] Magic Attack Spritesheets
Grant,
it looks fine, though being magic, it could be a bit more saturated than it is-- the other magic effects are fairly saturated, after all.
Also, can you make it dyeable, please? Thanks in advance!
