[REQ] New login wallpaper

Post by Rotonen »

Our login wallpaper still has Squaresoft characters in it.

By end of August, do come up with a new design.

You have 800x600 of PNG at your disposal. Good luck, have fun.

In the end of August I will select up to five (5) designs to go into the client.

1) Submit in PNG
2) Only the login wallpaper, not a screenshot of the client with the buttons and version string
3) Do you hold copyright to the photograph used in your submission?

Any 800x600 PNG will do. The current one is shipped with the client.

Here is the current one provided from our git repo for your convenience.

When uploading pictures for the game that are too big, try using the "upload file" feature on TMW wiki and then add a link or insert the image here.
Current character is "Abolish".

The design of the new skin is based on the wallpaper. Could we rather remove the Squaresoft images?

That's an option. Make one with something else there.

That's very good Spit23, are the images you left behind original gpl artwork? You can also remove the images using the layered .xcf file located in the tmw-art repository on Gitorious.

The only non-gpl images were the squaresoft characters which I removed.

All remaining images are concept art on our wiki.

I'd like to say that wallpaper size isn't limited to 800x600. Newer clients will choose the largest wallpaper not larger than their current resolution, so other wallpaper resolutions are usable.

Just make it a .svg.
Then add code for us to render SVGs.

I like the forest idea by spit.
Perhaps it could be a two layered wallpaper with different versions of the background layer chosen at random?
Sometimes forest, sometimes ice, desert, water, town... Perhaps even make the background move slowly, like if you were scrolling a map.

Of course, there's no real need for that if it's too complex.
