Re: [REQ] New login wallpaper

Our world map looks terrible. We ought to create a good looking stylized map based on stitching together all the mini-maps.
hey...
Maybe that is something I could do.

Re: [REQ] New login wallpaper
Sorry to be so harsh, meway, but your idea of a login wallpaper is awful, in my opinion.

Why don't you start from scratch on a piece of paper and draw the map conceptualized on the wiki in the same style as those found in classic fantasy novels by authors like Piers Anthony, Anne Macaffrey, J.R.R Tolkein, Terry Brookes etc. Preferably layered on a decent piece of ancient parchment/scroll instead of that bland and blocky thing.

We have a version of the planned world map on the wiki: http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... nogrid.jpg.

(If you are like me and are not able to create nice looking maps from scratch, then this is a possibility... Create a simile of the TMW world map with Wesnoth’s map editor, run the resulting file through Wercator, tweak it and that’s it.)
((It is also possible to export an image from Tiled, but it won’t be as cartographic as above.))

Why not just use that world map? Perhaps throw in some concept art here and there, it doesn't need to be too complex. In fact it's much better to keep it simple; I don't like pateame's very busy design at all.

I tried it out. The problem IMO is that the worldmap looks very blurry.feline monstrosity wrote:Why not just use that world map?

True. It'd be nice if someone could redraw it (I would do it myself but I'm on holiday and don't have access to my usual programs).

Re: [REQ] New login wallpaper
Try it without the border. Just have the title and the map. I don't like the border, because I prefer simpler designs and it also restricts the resolution (if you have it fullscreen at a high resolution it's just gray outside the border).
