I am searching for a Team to develop a new multiplayer online game. (there might not be so much "massive" in this MMOG)
I don't know what programming language we should use, but I suggest VB6. (because it is easy)

I need someone to write the client and server applications because I can't handle the realtionship between client /server. Whoever does this can of course use a template (mhmm... maybe Elysium Diamond or vbGore) and can bring in his own ideas. I would like the game interface to look like the interface of RMXP (the online one, the GUI of Netplay)

Of cource these are only Ideas so I am open to all new ones.
And, yes! I know this is a big project with much effort included, but I am ready to pay for all server and stuff we will need and if we need some professinal help I will see to get someone payed to help us out.

Sow... I would be very happy if I get some responses to this and I will pay people working on this project at the point where we have a basic game (client/server) running. (If the client and server application was written from scrap)

the official forum: http://sunrise-interactive.de (don't wonder if the place is still empty I just set up the forums and we will get started sometime today or tomorrow)

Thanks to all at this point, and good posting.

Bad idea.

1. VB6 is obsolete. Microsoft canceled support for it years ago. The official precedessor is vb.net

2. As someone who knows over a dozend different programming languages I can assure you that there is no "easy" or "hard" when it comes to programming languages. Just good for a specific purpose and bad for a specific purpose. The specific purpose VB is good for is rapid application development (=quick and dirty) of winAPI applications. It pretty much sucks for everything else.
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

In other words, may be you should consider use another programming language.

My advise is : do some research about which can be your best option first, another important thing is what type of license are you planing to use. TMW is under GPL (or any variation) so the programmers can share, reuse and improve other source codes or modules (or not) but they have to share the same license.

I'm not a programmer but that's my 2 cents.

Lol. Your project is doomed to fail.

1) Because you aren't a programer yourself and can't do anything useful
2) You want to clone RPG Maker (mwaha)
3) The real "Sunrise" will sue your ass.

But if you still want to continue, what I seriously doubt, you can use this:

http://r-pg.emubase.de/site/index.php

R-PG is a VB6 application which was started in 2003/2004, i forgot.

After I was involved in the "Manga Mania" project (2001, VB6 RPG Maker clone heavly based on Secret of Mana) and this project died (Source available) there was two big RPG-Maker Clone projects :

R-PG and RPG Genesis. RPG Genesis was Delphi based and died without releasing useable sourcecode.

The R-PG project died too, but left a very useable source code, good selfmade graphics and epic music/sound themes. I would recommend you starting with this project and adding network support to it. And maybe use TMWServ for the server side.

But you won't do this anyways and miserably fail, but this post gave me the chance to look into the past, thank you.
