You know it would be good if the TMW has its own original mascot monster just like
poring in ragnarok
chocobo/moogle in final fantasy
murlocs in WOW

it would leave at least small impression on some people who tries to play TMW

*the monster shouldn't necessary be really strong
*its should be near the starting town
*should be original. can be either cute or cool
*leaves strong impression
*that monster can almost be found everywhere in the world

just my opinion...

So far and for historical reasons, it'll be the maggot.

Since we've not really built the gameworld yet, nothing else has popped up. Quite too early to make a call for "marketing materials".

I designed the Pinkie for this purpose but unfortunately it didn't catch on. But the Mouboo seems to be very popular with players.

Mouboo is the best for this role

. They're so funny that I dislike killing them most of time. Though pinkies are funny as well and from formal point of view it should be maggot (which is not too funny for mentioned role but still looks nice as very 1st monster to kill).
