Setzer vs Bone knife
Setzer vs Bone knife
Setzer and Bone knife, they are both quest items, and have nearly same attack. But their quests....
For bone knife you need only 10 small mushrooms and 10 black scorpion stingers. You can even buy them for someone for quite low price. But for Setzer you need Short sword, monster oil, few iron ores and 50k gp, And for monster oil you need more 3 black scorpion stingers, pearl, two snake skins, gold scorpion stinger and ton of herbs. And for gold scorpion stinger you need to be lvl 60 or higher. And after all you do to get it, it's weaker than bone knife (for 5 attack)....
You should make Setzer quest much easier or make it to have at least +200 damage. Like this noone will have it.

It's like swinging a knife vs. swinging a concrete block (the difference isn't quite as extreme). A knife, you can swing pretty fast. But how fast can you swing a concrete block back and forth? The bone knife has more attack, but it's heavier, and therefore harder to swing. The setzer has less attack, but it's a lot lighter, so the char can swing it much faster.

Using the setzer, you have more opportunities to hit your target in the same amount of time than you do with the bone knife. Can you explain it a little?
If the monster you want to kill needs 5 hits with the bone knife, using the setzer may take 6 or 7. The 7 setzer hits will take less time to deliver than the 5 bone knife hits. During this time, the monster has the ability to hit you at a fixed rate. You are more likely to take less damage and survive the battle using the setzer because you've killed the monster in less time.
Re: Setzer vs Bone knife
the difference in difficulty doesn't really come from the reward, but the quest designer. Fate made the setzer quest. Fate is the type of person who sits in his basement thinking of new ways to torture people.

Subjective. I personally found that quest rather fun and a refreshing change from all the pseudo quests lying around.Kage wrote:the difference in difficulty doesn't really come from the reward, but the quest designer. Would be nice if more people thought of new ways to challenge characters aside from the rather mechanical "Fetch me <(k*x)^2> <items>"

Ok... just for you... Ill write a quest that requires you to crack RSA encryption. Challenging enough for you?Freeyorp101 wrote:Subjective. Re: Setzer vs Bone knife
I have completed the quest with a full rhythm to collect the cherished setzer. While Brewing Oil server kicked me once within though
. Got li'l amazed when I found the damage is li'l low for setzer. Anyway, damage could be at least equal.
. (can guess the reason
)
& ooops for RSA we'll need super computer.

I agree with Freeyorp. For me the setzer quest is the best quest in game, because it gives you a great sense of accomplishment. Most players love and respect the setzer because getting it was an emotional adventure. I have never heard of anyone who gave up on the quest because it is to challenging. High level player offer their help, so that the quest gets a social component too.Kage wrote:Ok... just for you... Ill write a quest that requires you to crack RSA encryption. I've never been able to brew the oil for the last 4 months. Tried over 20 times. Even with high Int maxed out and following the guide too.
Bizarre.

From the "role playing thing" apart ... the oil monster quest is THE best quest of it all ...CodyMartin wrote:I agree with Freeyorp. I learned "colorimetry" at university and the whole process is a perfect way to master "space colors switching" :
- QOAL (remember him ?) was a master at it and only one try
is enough to get it !

Bizarre indeed. I have often seen that other players offer their help with the quest, after all it is a multiplayer game. What is you character name in game?Hykuab wrote:I've never been able to brew the oil for the last 4 months. Tried over 20 times. Even with high Int maxed out and following the guide too.
