I made first task. I made two parts. If you'll connect them, it will be like real rock.

A good start. Shading and perspective look OK.

But it still looks like plastic instead of a rough rock because it has no texture. An easy and efficient way to add texture is by sprinkling the one-colored areas with pixels of brighter or darker shades.

No, you didn't finish this task. You barely started. First of all use TRANSPARENCY channel, second put all in one file.

EDIT:

You may use as reference those rocks. Yours have to be much bigger then those little ones.

No, it's worse. Instead of following my advise you added nonsensical lines to it. This was completely unnecessary - the shape was already defined well by your shading.

you need texture and its not at a 45 degree angle. It looks nothing like the goal.

even if he did add texture something looks wrong unless its just my crappy style of adding textures.

winner3 I ask that you remake something like this but use your previous rock.

Regarding the original topic of this thread, I found a shuriken from another GPL game, Slash'Em. I added a bit of anti-aliasing and changed the background to transparent, but it still needs a bit more work. It's a little ragged around the edge.

can you make the contrast higher.... on second thought if your interested in pixeling an original throwing star would be nice.

I tried hand-pixeling a couple of times. The results were not even as good as WinneR3's. :( Maybe after I've had some more practice... As for the contrast, if you were meaning me, yes I can, I don't know when I'll get around to it.

God help us...

I draw this damn rock in 15 minutes. I simply took Len's rock, scale it to 200%, and redraw using existing palette. Grass is also borrowed from forest topic. Is it really so hard to use your imagination?

I say, that's beautiful! It's just the kind of style I wouldn't mind for a branch of TMW I should make.
