SNAIL: 50 hp, 5 attack, 5 defence, 10 xp

TURTLE: 100 hp, 8 attack, 10 defence, 50 xp

even alligator snappers are none aggressive

EDIT: Anyway, fine. You don't want a turtle monster. Huh, I guess we should only have monsters as big as a man and covered in spikes.

I'd recommend a Two-Headed Goblin King for the game's first monster, okay?

While I agree with most people, it would be AWESOME to fight a 5000lb turtle. Len has a point, most turtles are small, and harmless.

Len: I can see two paths you can go.

A. We are talking about making monsters into particles
B. We can have a type of monster (say named a critter) that is worth no exp and dies in one hit.

My favorite modern pixel art game Ragnarok Online has a turtle-themed dungeon. The turtles themself are themed after the basic elements.

From left to right:
Earth, Wind, Water (Ice), Fire and the last one is a healer.

But I'm amazed at the pixel-art skills some people have. I can only gawp and stare for the rest of the day.
