- stone texture isn't as good as in windmill
- there is no logic at all in no using alpha channel
- have you every seen wood connected like that
- wood pieces screams: "Where is *damn* perspective"
- meway you do not have copy everything I've placed on CA, use your imagination
- beach-house?? It meant to be barn...
- drop that damn paint - web based GFX editors are better than that crap

meway maybe you want a task in another region to avoid style inconsistency?
and... it's good to see you practicing ;)
Re: stone wall, windmill & other stuff
Sorry, didn't spend lot of time on it. Here is the first draft:

without any texture, details or so...
note: I use this piece of wood (top of the roof):
may I ?
I will spend the next weeks far from computer, so this project is paused during the (my ?) holidays.
See you in 2010.
Happy christmas

anyway, i hope i didn't hurt anybody's feeling by suggesting a different color. I was just thinking that it might look better if they would look the same.

This is more the line of thinking you should take when making functional art for a game instead of sticking with boring realism.Len wrote:It also provides a contrasting element
That said, there are some really valid points about some aspects of reality which can play in our favor here too: wood as a general material indeed does have different textures and different colors available you can use for inspiration and make things fit into their surroundings better.

Re: stone wall, windmill & other stuff
Roof and stone walls has a nice texture, but the other walls are too flat, may be adding some shadow and "imperfections to the walls" would help.
Re: stone wall, windmill & other stuff
Here is the way I'm going:
now, I have to add texture for the walls (sand like), adding some imperfection and 'finalize' it.

Re: stone wall, windmill & other stuff
Anyway to add that blue like tile in here maybe on a window or something? you know the one on the light house.
Re: stone wall, windmill & other stuff
I know it's supposed to just be for a barn, but am I the only one that really likes these non-perfect square shaped buildings? Anyway, Ivan, my only suggestion for after you make the texture is if you make a building with no imperfections(in the sand tiles) and then create a few tiles for imperfections so we don't always have the same buildings, and even if they do have cracks in the sand, they aren't always in the same place.
Hopefully that was easy to understand, I'm not always good with words, but other than that it is looking really nice.

Re: stone wall, windmill & other stuff
I had some difficulties with the sand-like texture. I hope this will suit you.
@Meway: I will not put windows on this barn, but maybe on an other building (you think about this big blue crystal on the top of the lighthouse?)
@Red Lord: yes, it's possible, you can do it (I think) easily: just cut the building on 32x32 square, and "adapt" each tiles (for tilability). You will obtain something like this:http://gitorious.org/tmwdata/mainline/b ... illage.png
