Resize of the Inventory

Post by Dark Alan Wake »

The Inventory is too small for High Level Player,
I think it should be bigger and the Backpack
should be smaller for more realism....

Lol, instead of explaining you how to do it Kage could just write the patch himself.

I think it should enlarge for the wizards because they take a lot of item (for the spells)

The client assumes that the inventory and storage are of fixed sizes. Those sizes are hardcoded.

It'll have to be a new client release, which we can't force people to use. Even releases as old as 0.0.22.2 still get used regularly.

Inventory should be limited by SLOTS, WEIGHT and VOLUME.
1. SLOTS have limited VOLUME. SLOTS may be extended by additional backpacks, bags, etc.
2. Each item have WEIGHT and VOLUME parameter.
3. WEIGHT is global for whole inventory. Maximum WEIGHT that player can carry should be limited by his physical stats, eg. Strength.

So we would have different max quantity of items in SLOTS - according to VOLUME of items.
This is my point of view. Such limitations stabilize ingame economy.

I am thinking of a way that players can obtain more storage as the game progresses (for manaserv).

Personally, I think that inventory, and storages (yes, ManaServ will have more then one bank) should basically be the same.

The I am thinking is that a player can have 3-5 equipment slots for "bags", each bag is treated as different inventory. You can easily move things from one bag to another. Or from a bag to a storage (since, the client won't be able to tell the difference between a bag and a storage)

I've been thinking about implementing that too. Have multiple inventories. One main one (the traditional) and rest for storage/magic bags/whatever.

I'm sorry, what is there in your inventory that takes up so much space?

And if you want realism, should be restrict you to only one set of equipment?
In real life, I can't imagine anyone can carry two shields, multiple weapons, beer, AND various hats. Unless they're the world's best Hobo.

That's no backpack, that's a Leather Tardis!
A hundred slots in invy (up to 30k stackable items for each slot!) and another three hundred in storage isn't enough?

You most likely have a lot of crap (Miner's glove, leather shirt, boots, etc) then. You should sell it to free up space.
