Trapped!

Post by Evilmidget38 »

I started the game today. While exploring the starting city, I went to the top right area. Somehow, something got screwed and now I can walk through anything, but there are invisible walls. I can't leave the area. I've tried logging in and out but that's not helping. Please help!

I also found I was unable to go to the northern part of the starting city at first. I'm having trouble changing areas. I use linux.

Something similar once happened to me when I cancelled downloading updates. Some graphics from the Mine were not present, and the whole area blurred like this. However, as far as I can remember, I was able to leave the map. Did you cancel any updates?

Not that I'm aware of. I downloaded it today. I'll see into downloading any sort of updates.

What map are you on? You can find this in the Debug window (F10). You could also try getting a GM to warp you to them, and see if the problem persists on another map.

Dark_Mag, while using unofficial modified clients is certainly allowed (as long as they don't violate server rules such as spamming, botting, etc) we can't support them, and you would instead need to contact the patch author for support. [More information regarding this].

It looks like a issue with the resource files.

Clients older than 0.0.25 will have this issue on certain maps. Central Tulimshar is one of them.

I have seen this error before and repeatedly experienced it.
It has nothing to do with graphics as far as I know.
I think it is a result of going beyond what the server/client (Not sure which on it is) can handle and it crashes.
This problem comes very often when using warps(, specially GM warps).
Only way I know of to be sure it never happens again is try to keep complicating and multiple commands to a minimum and hope for the best

Hope this helps!

This is purely a client issue. Before 0.0.25, maps were limited to 4 layers (below sprites, fringe (where sprites are drawn), above sprites and collision). 0.0.25 made the number unlimited. After We dropped support for clients older than 0.0.25, we started using maps that had more layers. Older client have issues with them, as they use the wrong layer for collision. That causes issues on the client side alone. The servers don't have this issue and so don't place you in a bad spot when you warp. You walk into a bad spot after warping because your client has the wrong collision layer.

Ah!
So thats what is happening!
Thanks Jax. :)

I found another error that happens like that one...
but it's got something to do with NPCs.
If I'm warped while an NPC is talking to me my client crashes and wherever I was warped to will crash my client each time I walk there...
It can also muck up the graphics like that for me...
Same error?
