Why not?
Re: m.def should increase with level
Most games have a rock, paper, scissor thing going onLord of the Flies wrote:To bring balance in pvp. A mid lvl mage should not beable to completely "own" a high lvl warrior, archer and easily compete with high lvl mages.Rotonen wrote:Why?
By increasing m.def with level you are fixing an obvious unbalanced aspect of the game.
It would also help other classes of the same level compete against mages.
PS Sorry for not explaining I thought this was an obvious issue
Mage at same lvl will almost always win to warrior
Warrior will almost always win to archer
Archer almost always win to Mage
Depending on luck, lvl, and play style of course (I think TMW is unbalanced also)

Re: m.def should increase with level
This has been brought up at least 9 times before. They will not change it. Because they do not have to, and do not care.
Len mages own all. Mage has a greater range then a archer, twice as deadly, and can heal themselves.
I would personally like to see the whole magic system shut down and restarted.
It is a broken system that simply can not be fixed.
And with the increase in iron drop rate, it is simply worst now.

I realize this and already stated that I agree that the current system TMW has is unbalancedLen mages own all. Mage has a greater range then a archer, twice as deadly, and can heal themselves.

Re: m.def should increase with level
I guess a PVP ladder dominated by mages would gain some attention. Without server sided statistics, a programmer is mostly not convinced.

Re: m.def should increase with level
I used to be a mage, and I owned all. It needs balancing.
Re: m.def should increase with level
Suggestions for an algo? M.def = armor + level, or...?

Re: m.def should increase with level
So only mages can defend against magic?

Re: m.def should increase with level
that's basically how it is already Rotonen. players without asorm have no chance against the all powerful ingrav.
Re: m.def should increase with level
or maybe the armor and other item can give M.defenceRotonen wrote:So only mages can defend against magic?
the warlord plate give 27 defense and 27 M.defense
just a idea
Lien...
Re: m.def should increase with level
How about not linking defense and magical defense?
We need way more equipment to make sense of the economy anyway.

Re: m.def should increase with level
I was thinking: If metal armor decreases mana, shouldn't it also help deflect mana-based attacks?
I do like the rock-paper-scissors idea though... I really want to balance things out more for PvP, I'm just looking for ideas.

Re: m.def should increase with level
Level divided by intel(if greater than 1) plus defence spell plus 1/10 armor.
This would give a nonmage some defence but still allow them to feel the attack. What about giving nonmetal shields a magic defence rating to help with lighting?
