Got something on your mind about the project? This is the correct place for that.

Why is the server crashing?

Post by Krist »

Erhm, just wondering...it has happened fairly often in the past couple days. It is a bit annoying. Is there a reason or culprit for it crashing?
I used to have Dark Talisman...then I turned level 6.

There can be 3 reasons.
1) Somebody hacked your accaunt.
2) You haven't downloaded full updates for server.
3) You have old client, bad internet or virus on your comp.

Well everyone is crashing, both of my accounts are crashing, I have all the updates, I recent clients running and I am on Linux...so no virus.

Basically everything's normal beside the fact the server goes "offline" every 15 min

The server crashing and your client crashing are not the same thing and also not related.

according to Freeyorp, the server was running out of HDD space, so he fixed that. in the past few days, it began running out of RAM, so Platyna fixed that. it seems to be fine now.

Let see for how long. Now eathena RAM limit is set to 1,5 GB, which is 25% of what we have in total.

Or we need to purge again. Too many characters.

The underlying problem is going to stay then.

We need to either move to mainline eA with client support and creative migration of user data (and ditching the magic implementation for now and making it working on eA active skills eventually when the server evolves further).

OR

We need to finally hack database support to TMW-eA.

I'd definitely take the first option there. Sure, it wastes effort put into TMW-eA, but so what? I don't see any reason to punish our users for bad ancient decisions we've made over the years.

and taking away magic is the best way to not punish the users? that's exactly what the game needs: less content!

Do learn to read.

I said the current implementation is bad and should be moved to eA active skills.
