japanese oni demon

Post by triton »

hi all, I have some time thinking it would be interesting to create a new enemy for this game based on Japanese mythology.
this character would be an oni demon armed with a katana who lives in the cemetery in search of humans they torment.
I made a drawing that gives a small idea of how can this character.
I explained that I sometimes do not work the pixel and encourage the great artists in this web.
greetings to all and I hope you enjoy it .....

Would be nice have yokais (beyond of me  ) in the TMW, but the problem is: have any part of TMW with japanese culture? I dont think so.
RO, have a land called Amatsu (look like Amaterasu...), that have tengus, Kappas, etc.

From another side, we can make a monster that look like a Oni, just for put in the game.

Inspiration: http://www.obakemono.com/

Some monsters are relatively easy of be made

Ittan-momen: http://www.obakemono.com/obake/ittanmomen/
Hitodama (that is a soul, not a monster): http://www.obakemono.com/obake/hitodama/
Betobeto-san: http://www.obakemono.com/obake/betobetosan/

etc.ect.

Good luck.

SoM, what is this?

Yes, the TMW game have trace of japanese drawings (big eyes, funny emoticons, etc.), but the question is: necessity of yokais in TMW game. This is purely optional, and depend of history of Mana (as world).

We could put another monsters of brazilian folklore, or polish folklore, or german folklore, etc.

Would be nice defeat an Oni? yes! 3 meters of height, very strong, equiped with a iron-club ready to kill you anytime! Great battle! But, as i am saying: all depends of history of TMW.

Just art-wise.

As we expand the world, a Japanese-like culture is doable.

Not really. Then we would have gone for a clean cut style.

What it initially inspired was a ring menu system (thereafter silently ignored and forgotten) and a true real time combat system (which delayed the server for years and was too silently abandoned for the greater good of the project).
This message used to be meaningful.

The Noh Mask.
I thought the Noh and Demon Masks were Chinese theater. They also fit the assassin set.
