Mistakes for GM!

A forum for the community to suggest new Game Masters. PLEASE READ THE RULES.

Forum rules
  1. Each member of the community can make a topic (poll) suggesting another person for a GM. You can't make a poll for yourself.
  2. One topic per person, any duplicates will be removed and votes will be lost.
  3. Each poll has to be done according to the schema (yes has to be first option and no the second):
"Do you agree for person X to become a GM?"
    "Yes."
    "No."
You are supposed to allow only one option per user and allow revoting.
You are supposed to pick "run for 0 days".
  4. A person suggested has to collect at least 45 votes (or more) for yes, with minimum 75% for yes and maximum 25% for no (3:1 ratio).
  5. A person suggested may request closing of the topic.
  6. Only posts containing valid pros and cons are allowed in the threads, discussions however are not allowed. For discussions about particular case use Player Talk forums.
  7. If a person collects the required votes, assuming there are free positions and no objections are raised, they'll be granted "Junior GM" rights for a certain period.
  8. After training and approval from the senior GMs, the team will formally grant full GM rights and team membership.
  9. If many persons will gain required voices, voice count will matter.
  10. The amount of GMs to pick in certain time line will be determined by the TMW Team (Admins, GMs and developers).
  11. Persons rejected due lack of free positions will be put on hold till any position becomes available (according to vote count).
  12. If more than a year passes, a new poll must be open to ensure the community is still fine with the nomination.
  13. Usual GM choosing criteria and guidelines still apply, persons not meeting those criteria will be rejected and will have their thread closed.
  14. Sockpuppeting will be detected and all accounts, including the master's one will be banned forever without warning. There is one vote per person, and a person means a human being not a forum account.
  15. If this forum will turn into a flame war cave, people posting here will act unreasonably and will break the rules on massive scale, forum will be closed down. So use it wisely.
  16. If you don't know a person suggested, it is better to find out who is s/he and what they do before voting, do not vote "no" just because you don't know someone.
  17. State EXACT player name that clearly identify a person (in game or on forums - precise which one it is).
  18. After a candidate receives required amount of votes, the poll is closed, a candidate reviewed by the TMW Committee and asked (or not - in case of valid objections) to become a GM.
  19. You need to have at least 10 posts to participate in the polls.

really guys, i've made great strides in cleaning up my swearing (i don't play when i'm out of cigarettes anymore.) also, lately i noticed just how many players we have that it offends (as well as children) and decided it would save everyone a lot of time if i stopped dropping the "f-bomb" like it's hot.

Edit: just ask Prsm, he recently commended me on my clean-up!

Amun, ltbk, when we three agree on something, they are going to hate it.

I voted no. He seems a little moody to me. He seems to react and never respond, he never sticks his head out, even though he is right. He plays it safe and he is willing to let things slide.

I didn't say THAT!!!?

But yeah. I might have agreed to some similar statement and I still do!

...but it's still a NO from me at this point.

Just keep your f***** usual ways son, and be a good "Metal" GM !
I mean ... you not supposed to lick-***** or even suck-***** : stay as you are, relax and enjoy, say NO to rehab !

~ Gosh ... that god-damn mothafucka clearly knows how to keep my vote ... yep !
Prsm strikes again! I told you he is teh master troll (he converted mistakes!)! Another one of the greats lost to the "wuss" side. But if he wants to be GM that is where he needs to be :) So good luck to mistakes!
Amun, no one has "converted" me, but between Katze leaving my party, all the complaints i used to get on my swearing, and a few other factors, i realized: what's the point? there's nothing to be gained from trolling, all it does is drives the community apart and makes new players more likely to quit.

look, i appreciate the votes, don't get me wrong; but i don't want you guys voting for me for the wrong reasons. if you think i'm going to let abusive behaviour slide simply because i used to troll, then you are sadly Mistaken. (heh see what i did there?) doesn't mean we can't remain friends, but i'm not going to bail anyone out when you get banned for abuse. also: take your trolling to some random topic in player talk, this is not a discussion forum.

i am actually inclined to agree with you meway, i've yet to see any concrete reasons other than my language and the trolling i used to do, which i manage to get out of my system in the party tab now.

Here's how I see it: Mistakes is blunt, speaks his mind, has a sense of humor, but is willing to help if asked. Before voting no solely on the basis that he's friends with a lot of so called 'trolls', consider this: a person doesn't need to be good friends with all the 'upstanding citizen' types to make a good GM. In fact, one could say it's even beneficial to be friends with the troublemakers, since they might avoid causing problems to keep the peace.

The current GMs are great, but I'll admit, sometimes some are a little more lenient than called for in certain situations. Not to a problematic degree really, but I think a more assertive GM would be a good idea/addition to the team. Mistakes is fair in general, and I'm confident that if it came to it, he would even ban a friend if he had to.

Here's my last reason/s why we need a GM like Mistakes: he has attitude. He's a nice guy, but he's not some sap who will sit there giving chance after chance. When faced with some mean trash talking person with nothing better to do than spam insults in town, he'll respond quickly and appropriately. Also, he tends to be online during most of the times the other GMs aren't around, which is always good to take into consideration: 5 new GMs on in the same time slots wouldnt be as effective as just one who's online on the off-times.

Anyways, Good luck!

mrwho and mrgrey, all the things that i wanted to make an elaborate politician-like speech about, you just summed up perfectly. if there's a spammer in town annoying the crap out of everyone, i'd give them one warning, and then it would be an hour ban. if there was a beggar doing what beggars do, i'd warn him, then send him to the batcave :P if the offending player came back to do it again, it would be a ban. botting of course, would be an instant ban after the 2 minutes was up. as for english in public: i only consider in towns to be public, if you're out killing fallen and don't feel like speaking english, there's no harm in that.

i am a fair man, i do help when asked, but abuse, begging, spamming, all the things we hate are not something that i put up with. in the past when people did these things, i usually trolled them out of town. it may not have been the most effective way to deal with the problem, but it was all i was able to do at the time.

as for being friends with all the trolls, i am, and most of them are in my party. but that's how i blow off steam, i talk trash to them in the party tab, and no one is offended. we have a pretty good time with it. being their friends, they actually listen to me when i ask them nicely to stop trolling some poor soul. if a current gm were to ask one of them to please stop abusing someone they would probably laugh, and then start whispering. it's one of those things where you can't judge a book by it's cover. i didn't judge them by their collective covers, and in doing so, i got their respect.

so, denizens of tmw, and the forums: ask not "what can you do for mistakes?" ask: "what can mistakes do for you?"

Not being friends with just upstanding members of society is how politicians work. There are always more shady people than there are upstanding.

Now, just because there are more shady, doesn't mean you let abuse slide by, and I have no reason to suspect that he will let something like that happen.

Also, I lold hard at the GM Puppy comment.
