Meh....

Most developers fall into this category, since most of us have jobs in the computer field, and/or is a computer science major in college.... and we devote a lot of time to this game.
To be fair to BBB, he has been trying to learn C++ quite seriously. He has a long way to go, but I expect in 2 or 3 years (if he keeps it up), he will be able to code well enough to actually make significance contributions to this project.

But Kage, I think you are not a child anymore and I NEVER saw you trolling around. That is the difference.
I have huge respect for those people who put their spare time in this project.
A child can have the computer as hobby why not, my hobby is the computer, too (well I am not exactly a child anymore). But children need to go out, play, see real people in a real environment and not pixels the whole time. That is pretty important to build a personality. I don't think you, Kage, where sitting in your room the whole day, when you where a child. Or am I wrong?

"PC" means personal computer, which includes Macs.

It doesn't just refer to Windows.
/me hates Apple for those stupid ads

Why I like the PC (windows xp-sp1/vista pre)
- compatibilty (endless software)
- office (openoffice/word03/07) perfect for skool.
- Media is good (though it isnt as sexy as the mac, its just as good)
- Games!! (sof/cod/counter/............on and on)

I like ubuntu because:
Easy to use, difficult to use (if going a bit deeper), looks nice, is not annoying bye asking "do you really want to xyz?" a thousand times, can keep running many days without crashing, no viruses for the not-server-versions.
I still use 9.04 and I will use it like forever. Simple reason. My PC has hardware from the stoneages and 9.10 doesn't run properly so i keep 9.04, where the only thing i can't use are those desktop effects, which are not important for me anyway. So instead of buying hardware / new PC which I can't afford, I just keep running with this and it is good

The mac-has-no-viruses argument is becomming less and less valid.
The reason there were few viruses for MacOS in the past was not because MacOS is inheritely more secure than Windows. It's just that the number of installations was so small compared to Windows that noone bothered to write viruses for it. But with the raising market share of MacOS this changes. There are already viruses and other exploits for MacOS spotted in the wild.
In the meantime Microsoft has accepted security holes as the main critique point of their operating system and does its best to make Windows more secure. While XP had several security flaws by design, a lot much more attention was given to security during the development of Vista and 7.
When MacOS and Windows ever reach equal market share the number of their security concerns will also become equal.

Popularity is a small factor. Ease of exploit is a bigger one.
Most webservers run Apache under GNU/Linux. IIS under Windows, a minority, gets far more. Not just OS attacks, but attacks against the server software itself. Apache under Windows gets far more attacks than Apache under GNU/Linux, due to the underlying system.

Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Puppy Linux
Never used Windows in my home, never plan to, never will.
There is far more contributing factors to virus malware security than just market share.
I was initially attracted to The Mana World because of the open source philosophy lying within. I have not played a MMORPG since "Federation" in 1992.
