Ok, Delt with the fact that soul less are going to be deleted ... get a friend transfer your stuff if you have to... but When will this happen? How long before the new servers are changed?

If everything goes well, this could happen within a year..

The thing with changing servers is that you get downtime, significant or not, which could make new players think that the game doesn't work or something. the best thing is to have redundancy i.e. two servers where one can be taken down if neccessary. Would that be possible?

Of course it would be possible, we really don't have problems in finding people wanting to host a server, but if we're going to switch to the new server (that's a software change) it will require some downtime or maybe not. Having redundancy won't help a lot in my opinion.

Well, is it possible that tmw can start using a list server system which offers the list of servers that people can play on which use the same db (possible multiple instances of eAthena on the same server..?) so that if one goes down people can play on the other etc. which would effectively achieve redundancy? It helps with server downtime, because then server downtime is not really total downtime of the game, it just means that people can use the other instance of eAthena.

We are planning a better system to reduce downtime in our new server implementation. The current server is only a test server, the down time reduces to an hour per month, so I guess downtime is not an issue at the moment.

And just to point it out, the new server will not be eAthena and the gamesystem won't be even close to RO. That's why we cannot copy the characters 1:1 to it.

I've just been just hinting that the characters with their souls might find something extra in their new accounts as a welcome gift..
