so i guess for people like me, who are stuck with an older version of ubuntu, my solution might be good, the others should follow 4144's advice to download it with synaptik :)

Leela, I had the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10 and so on. My 2008 pc simply didn't start with newer Ubuntus.
I recommend giving Fedora a try. I'm still running the version 12 on netbook but it seems "tougher" than Ubuntu (subjective, I know) - and it works on my PC too. I don't know about 4144 on Fedora, I just read your guidelines and will give it a try.

Yo, Davius.

I have a recommendation for your tutorial: Please change the link to the ManaPlus software download.

Most folks will click your link as if it's the only version of ManaPlus is 1.0.8.3, while the latest (at this point) is 1.0.10.4.

I'd recommend this link for "latest" and leave it at that: http://tmw.cetki.com/download/latest/windows/

and this one to let the reader make other choices if the latest/greatest fails: http://tmw.cetki.com/download/

This mean you have bad graphics drivers.
Try start from start\mana shortcut with name ManaPlus (no opengl)
It should work for you.

Wiki please, excellent reference or better then is currently there :D

Manaplus is quite a bit cryptographic meaning some hidden functionality that is not even in documentation. That is manaplus wiki is far incomplete.

Or we could link this thread from wiki, is not that easy to find. This guide explains much more that is currently there.
