As a member of Pleasant Company, I can say that as far as I've seen nobody has even tried to put up a fight. One or two people come in, die, and swear at their killers.
I've told so many people they just need to get together and they'll wipe out the PK'ers easily, but nobody really listens. Their problem. I hope no PVP-free Terranite cave gets added.

Maybe it's just not what people want to do. You can't force them to play a game they don't want to play and even have fun doing it. And I am not talking about TMW as such but about this new "we are the bad guys and you need to fight us if you want to achieve something or otherwise you are a dumb ass" kind of game.

I agree Katze about that we'd never force people to PvP if they don't want to.
I, mysel, thought it would be fun to get some own-made challenges in a "Come and get-us" area.
Now the problem is maybe not the PvP but where it is placed in game.
Would a more dedicated place fit more the need? A place other players can easily avoid, then?

The current situation:
It started with a nice new area people can go to to gain items for a new quest. Some time later a group of players claim that place for themselves and ask for money if you want to go there or you will be killed and you cannot complete the quests.
Results:
People feel deprived of something they already had in the past and they feel they also have a right to use.
-> bad thing
Possible alternative:
Something like that needs to be introduced from the beginning as a part of a quest. I don't know if that is technically possible, but it might be way better than it is now. But there should not be one distinguished group that has the right to be the bad guys. That would only cause problems again.
On the other hand, if you install some pvp area people don't HAVE to go, nobody would actually go there except for a little fight now and then. Only if...
...another alternative...
you get xp when you kill someone from a different party or guild in those areas.
These are just some not completely thought through ideas...but maybe it helps finding a compromise.

People seem so mad cause a group of players is controlling it. But these players have no special powers that any other player can't obtain. The ONLY thing you can credit if you can not take the mine back from them with a equal number of players is that THEY are better players.
Stop crying to get GMs/Devs to support your side cause you can't do it. Organize you selves make a commitment, and take the cave back.
Hell if you can't find a way to take it back with force try to undermine them by getting them to turn on each other to something.

If noone has to go there then noone ever will. The reason PvP in the mine is fun is because there is something at risk. Something to gain and something to loose.
Also, nothing says the player HAS TO go there, only if they want the benefits of using the mine.

They have to go there to complete a quest. and not everybody thinks it is fun! many people just hate it! You can't impose your idea of fun on other people. And that's just what this currently is.

No, I can't impose my idea of fun on other people. Its more like a option between playing a game me and other developers create or not playing our game.
Also... By removing PvP wouldn't that be imposing their idea of fun on me and others who like PvP?
So if we add PvP we are imposing a idea, if we remove PvP we are also imposing a idea.
So how about some diversity? How about the majority for the game not be PvP based and some sections are PvP based? Ok good

I think there will be another cave containing terranites soon... so i've heard. maybe this cave is without pvp, but can only be reached via a pvp area.... i dont know

An alternative idea would be a place that has huge amounts of easy to get resource but is pvp and another map that isn't pvp but has much much fewer resources (and/or difficult to get to) so there is still motivation to hunt in the pvp map.
Personally, I like the idea of another pit map that requires team work to get to the high resource area. So imagine snake pit but instead of just a closed room in the centre, there is a door to a new map with easy to get to resources. The pit area could be designed to be pvp so players can work together or kill people off selfishly. Usually people will work together.
For future pvp maps, it maybe a good idea to have a random entrance (or multiple entrances), like in the Hurnscald bat cave map. This might give players a fighting chance at getting in if the entrance is being blockaded by player killers.

I don't said pvp as such is a bad idea. But I said that organised crime which grows after everybody had already been able to use that area is a really bad idea and it's just like in real life: most people don't like that. If you make some quest for which people need to fight in groups from the beginning (or something), it might be better accepted. but as it is many people just don't want to fight against some...guys...who take advantage of some situation.
I like Acegi's idea.

Suggestions for pvp:
1v1: the person is only allowed to attack the person that they 1v1'd with, betting items/money, winner takes all.
guild vs guild: needs to be same ammount of players vs eachother, 5k per person to get in, winning guild takes all gp.
There should 2 different caves for each.
This would allow more fun for pvp and more people would do it.
In the guildvsguild only 2 guilds that are vs eachother are allowed in the map.
These are good possible alts to get people to play pvp since people dont do pvp unless they get something out of it.

This is probably going to far now but maybe people should get the option to chose one out of some tribes/guilds etc in the beginning when creating their char. And certain guilds you can fight others you can't etc...
