Eragon wrote:Nice thread but isn't it possible to add a chat filter just like most online games do?
For example my password is PeaceWorld.
And when I enter PeaceWorld in chat, it shows like **********?
I don't know if that is possible, but its still nice ^^
That's a really bad idea. I don't know which games you are referring to, but their developers definitely didn't thought this through.

Some people use passwords which are common words. Just imagine what happens when someone uses this word in a normal conversation, it appears as ***** to others, and it is possible to make out what it means from context? Like "One day I would like to visit paris and see the ****** tower" - now everyone around with half a brain knows your password is "eiffel".

Yes, it's a bad practice to use commonly used words as passwords, but remember that the retards are the people we want to protect with this measure.

Crush: How about if a player enters his password in chat, other players wont see anything and the player will be warned by the server for the risk of getting scammed...if he repeats it nothing will stop him to tell his password.
Also, players will be able to turn that filter off in settings?
Example: My password is world.

I say: World is big.
Server: Warning: You are risking to be scammed (or something).
Then if I say again: World is big...
other players will see it?

Here's an idea: Don't use normal words as your password.
Job done, and maybe the lesson learned here will carry over to other sites.

[edited to add]
There's a reason many system admins run password cracking tools on their own servers. On sensitive business servers, I've enforced policies where we lock accounts with weak passwords for violating the security policy. That might put in perspective how small-time this situation really is

Even noobs should know better than to give away their information. and noob or not it would still be spamming the chat.
