That would really well fit into Len's work: http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... &start=285.

Those parts of the stems which are on the side away from the light source shouldn't have highlights, because the trunk is casting a shadow on them.

Also, the light source of the leafs of the tree is inconsistent with the light source of the drop shadow. Those parts of an object which are inside the drop shadow, or which extrude from the side which casts the drop shadow, should only use the darkest shades of your color palette.

Meway is making progress, but Len is still several levels better. Meway has still a long way to go before his and Lens art would work together seamlessly.

Even if Lens art is better, that doesn't mean we should focus more on one than another. Both of these pixel artists already did some awesome work and it is very hard to judge who is the best pixel artist between the two. All of us can do pixel art, only practice and time gives a particular value to the art.

Meway, I think that making the roots stick out of the ground a bit more would be good, they already look great but don't seem to be coming out of the earth.

Ill have to disagree, its a whole different texture of art by looking at it. but just because its different it doesnt mean its not good. i like the idea of the pillars meway good job!

Cheers,

My work is no where near close to lens level. Crush is right about the tree, It has issues that I will fix. Thanks for pointing these things out. The pillar was made with the best of my ability. The purple pillar was an attempt to adjusted the pallet for the style of Woa.

You understood what I meant to say. But you shouldn't leave the parts in the shadow completely unshaded. Just using one or two shades darker for everything or even just omitting the highlights would do the job.

The new leafs don't look very well. Unfortunately I can not give you a surefire way how to fix it. There are so many different ways to do tree leafs. There is simply no "right" way to do it. How about studying some professional pixel art work and trying to copy their techniques?

Here is an example of what I have so far. Some objects still need shadows and other objects need to be adjusted to work well with tiled (with there shadows) I had to use two layers for this mapping test. (with just the tree's) Ground alternative's are still being worked on. Consistency adjustments will be made to any new and previous graphics to follow this style for the tree's and pillar. (purple)Anyone who makes an attempt to pixel for this project will get help.

I found your color shading a little "hard", but I like your style and work :)

*ground* [wip] the gridding pfft I'm not like tmw where everything has to be high detailed noise. It will look fine when I make grass to place over it.
