Ali-G, can you please explain what exactly "semi-authorized" means?

Either a bot is authorized, or it's to be banned on sight.

Also please for your own good reputation stop to call people Trolls just because they make questions that you don't like or that you cannot reply.
I'm sorry, but I don't think you're in any position to tell me how objective I am, regardless of what groups of players I choose to associate with. What my guild of choice does, or party, or anyone I'm friends with, does not instantly apply to me, and it won't be anymore true if you try to state it as a fact. And, I notice you neglected to complain about the period of time when ManaMarket was constantly being killed; again, often by me. Guess you missed that part.
Funsani wrote:Mine was a simple question, since you don't know how to reply you start to call me troll or change the wiki to fix your mistakes, once again as the last time i am starting to think that i won't have a simple reply. Quite sad.
I believe you were replied to rather well. You were informed how to trade a dead player, and your questions even provoked a closer look at AuctionBot's status. Your reply focused instead on pointing a blaming finger towards my guild, and making it sound like we changed the wiki JUST to prove you wrong, when really your questions helped cause something good in terms of the wiki needing to be updated about certain details. Knowing that you can trade with dead people now, and pending more admin input about AuctionBot's status, you've heard enough to know that AuctionBot isn't being killed so that ManaMarket gets more traffic. Hopefully, if you reply again, it will have to do with AuctionBot, and not with more conspiracy theories about my guild, anyone's guild, etc.

Well my understanding of "semi-authorized" is this:
You cannot see him moving or gaining experience (The usual ways why bots are banned.)
So just looking at it, you can have the impression, it's just an afk player, so no ban on sight is needed.

But when whispering to him, you obviously know it is not an afk player, but a computer operates that player.

So i'd translate "semi-authorized" to "officially tolerated, but not officially approved"

Thats it then, should I place AuctionBot in a "Tolerated Bots" category instead of "Semi-authorized Bots"?

I think the rules regarding botting are pretty clear. When Auctionbot was never officially authorized, the game masters should have banned it on sight. That they didn't do this, is a massive failure of them, in my opinion.

When we want to have rules regarding what a bot can and can't do to be tolerated without an official approval, these rules must be properly formalized. It's simply unacceptable, that some people jump through hoops to get their bots formally approved and other people just put their bots online and the game masters just stand by and watch.

@Crush:
Auction bot is here forever, no dev ever told us if he was authorized or not, as usual. We know Manamarket is authorized because the guys that made it are in Phoenix Council as i am.
The wiki showed AuctionBot him as an official bot, what should we do? The wiki reflects all quest and activity on game so sure we GMs and all players thought the bot was official.
I think next time we will appreciate someone really responsible for approve or not a friendly bot tell us, that a particular is not approved even if the wiki says it is, to avoid problem and not make us responsible for a mistake that AliG made in the wiki. We had many other bots in game, like the oracle for example, but guess what? Any of them was state as official in the game wiki so we banned all.

So now what do DEVs want us to do? Is he authorized, semi authorized, is he a bot or not?
I will block him now and once we know the decision regarding the bot is made we can unblock him.

I maybe did a mistake by adding AuctionBot as a semi-authorized bot on wiki but now I changed it to "tolerated bot".

@Narus: Since we never had any complaints about AuctionBot, I don't see the intention by blocking it. If we ever have a report, then lets block him, but not now!

Considering that Narus has banned AuctionBot an hour ago, "tolerated" is no longer a proper description for it.

AuctionBot has been around for a long time, and many people use it to improve their game experience.

This thread was started by someone with a shop character who was upset about ManaMarket. It was then hijacked by a conflict troll. I'd hate to see a game feature removed or good people blamed because of a couple of kneebiters.
[edit: OP was upset about mushrooms, not MM]

There is currently no way for players or GMs to know whether the GHP has "approved" a bot. Frankly, I don't even know why we'd care. It's an administrative decision, and one for those people to communicate (or not) and enforce (or not). It's for us to use (or not).

If someone with direct knowledge of the status of AuctionBot wants to clear the air, great. Otherwise, I suggest the rest of us find something productive to do. "Funsani" will find something else to complain about. He always does; you'll recognize the style if not the name.

P.S. The wiki is a community effort. Ali-G simply works harder than most to keep it up to date, and he takes justifiable pride in the quality and currency of it. Until he adds "from God's mouth to my ear" in his signature, he's just doing his best like anyone else.

True.

True, I'm doing great efforts and I am rarely, well more now, thanked for what I do. I don't like to get "hit" after I've tried to help. Now, I'm not asking you to say "thank you Ali-G" each time I do something on the wiki, I'm only wanting people to respect what I do and I do that work because nobody else did it before.

Auction Bot will remain blocked until the DEVs give him the official bot status.

Players love the bot and i know that, so as i said once he gets the approval he will be unblocked.

Hello,
Frost wrote:[edit: OP was upset about mushrooms, not MM]
Very good Frost, finally you start to understand. Maybe you should now consider that I wasn't talking about you, or any guild or any player. Is it really that hard to see?

I just stated facts.

You and mistergrey called me troll, I didn't even talk to both of you,
you wrote that Auctionbot was not officially reviewed and approved by the server admins, I didn't, since I didn't know I asked,
mistergrey wrote that I was blaming your guild because the wiki was changed, more precisely
mistergrey wrote:we changed the wiki JUST to prove you wrong
I never ever said that your guild changed the wiki, he did, read my post again, I wrote: someone [Ali-G],
mistergrey wrote about conspiracy theories, I didn't,
mistergrey wrote that ManaMarket may gets more traffic, I didn't,
mistergrey wrote that I neglected to complain about the period of time when ManaMarket was constantly being killed by him, I didn't complaint because the bot was being killed, I just stated that AuctionBot is not approved, as you said, it can be killed,
yourmistakes wrote about the process of authorization of ManaMarket, I didn't ask how long does it take to get an authorization but what authorized mean, it was nothing related to ManaMarket,
you wrote that since I asked the admins to clarify why Auctionbot was included in the list of active authorized bots in wiki sounded like I was just looking to stir up conflict, it was a legitimate question that everybody could do, I cannot see anything that may start what you wrote.

mistergrey, yourmistakes and you did all that alone, I wrote nothing about that.

Crush unlocked the thread and moved it to player talk and you started to whine after my post, saying that this thread was hijacked by a conflict troll. Maybe the subject wasn't solved after all.
I asked all the times to the admins answer me, not to your guild nor to you. You can say whatever you want, but I was asking about an official reply.

Actually I made some questions and all I would like was to see fair things for everyone. It is not about conspiracies against you or any other crazy thing that you may think.
And I had an answer from Crush (thank you btw).
He said or a bot is authorized, or it's to be banned on sight.
If Auctionbot and the other shops are approved then they deserve the same protection as ManaMarket, otherwise a ban must be enforced according to the rules.

Rule number 2 says no bots, Auctionbot is here forever as Narus said, again, as Crush said when Auctionbot was never officially authorized, the game masters should have banned it and nobody did that until today.
Narus said that GMs didn't know it was not approved. It only shows us a poor (or lack of) communication but, as you can see here:
Auctionbot is not an authorized bot
it seems that some GM knew that it wasn't approved but didn't ban. Again very confusing.

When someone put rules they must be applied to everyone if we want a fair server, otherwise the people that must enforce rules, in this case the GMs, become not reliable by failing to do so.
All questions were made to clarify what was going on. If you and\or everybody else can´t see that, I'm really sorry for you and them.
