If your idea of respect is implying that others are lazy or complainers, and that your respect is regardless intrinsic to you granting a reply, then we really have nothing further to discuss.
I have taken your point of view to heart, and I can see the thrill of finding a rare wonderful thing that few others will ever have. I guess I just don't share that point of view, nor do I feel that it is in the best interests of the game overall, nor in the best interests of the majority of players. That being said, it's not an important enough detail (for me at least) to go to war over. As I already said, it's not a hill I'm willing to die over.

Let me give an analogy from real life.

This is one of the Gutenberg Bibles. These were the first books ever to be mass-produced by a printing press, which makes them very historically significant. About 180 of them were printed, but today only a handfull of them still exist in the world. They are priceless artifacts well sought after by museums and collectors all over the world.
Now imagine that we would reprint millions of them so that everyone who want them can have one. We would somehow make them indistinguishable from the original ones so you can't tell which are really 600 years old and which ones are the new replicas. Would they still be something special? Would they still have a special place in the center of the room shielded by bullet-proof glass when you could buy them at every street corner?
Some things are only awesome because of how rare they are. When everyone could have them, nobody would want them.

I think i see your points, but can it be possible that many (new) players not begin to collect items despite:

, because it is rounded not possible to get a "full" collection, and as less possible as time paste since TMW starts - and is this not the ideal dream of all collectors to have this full collection?
I think between not rerelease and droprate of 100 % for silcworms there is a huge diversity of possibilitys ...
F.e. a lottery once a year with one random "no longer obtainable" item for one of all declared players - i don't think there should be a inflation of rare items then ... ?

There were some events in the past - like the trivia events by Platyna - where a few no longer obtainable items were spawned and given to winners. Doing something like that again wouldn't be unthinkable in the future.

Yes, and i think it is events should get frequent to give all players the possibility to get the items ... so i think, it will be good to write it to wiki, like a "quest"
What the frequent should be and how much players get the prices can be discussed in detail, but not say only "no" - this is a game and there nearly all should be possible

This is one of the Gutenberg Bibles.
I can use real-life to argue that we should not respawn when we die in TMW, but that would not make for a very fun game. Real life <> TMW.
I would be happy with a printed copy of the bible in my house; I don't need the original Gutenberg Bible.
To use your exact analogy, you could re-release the three rares I mentioned (or any and all others) under new item numbers, with an item description clearly saying that:
"these are not first editions, but merely cheap copies to please the masses". That way the collectors that need a
rare original can be happy with their first editions, and the masses can be happy with their cheap copies. Everybody wins.
In real life too, there are the wealthy walking around with their genuine Prada purses, and the masses buying cheap knock-off fakes at faux-flea-markets.
** EDIT: 1st edit was to change the underlined "rare original" from "unique original" for accuracy. 2nd edit was to add this explanation. I have got to start proof-reading my stuff more, before I hit the submit button.

I already suggested that in my first post in this thread.

And I'm agreeing with you.
Although I would opt for a modified item description as opposed to changing the colour to something un-natural for those items.

The description can't be read by anyone except the owner. In my opinion it's important that the difference can be seen by others when the item is worn. I am not talking about a totally different color which would look unnatural - just a slightly different color tint which is only noticed when you see it next to the original. Maybe the new one could have a slightly higher saturation, because the ancient version bleached out over time.

Cool ! I really like that idea, then.

What would be the point if they looked the same? its like the goggles and the leather goggles lol usually nobody cares which one they have because they look exacly the same....i think there should be a great difference and not just have it look the same unless its beside each other or else it will end up like the goggles and leather goggles in game which is no fun at all.

Maybe, we could not alter the hat but we could do something to the icon instead? that way it would look the same but have a different icon? Maybe like a little tag which says the year it was released or something? That way you could set the price judging by how old it is...
I do agree that the hats should be there for many to enjoy, but I also respect the fact that collectors have spent ages to build up this collection and it has cost them a great deal of money and time to get an item.
Another idea is taht you add them to the Exotic Trader or another npc of some sort at a high price like the items on there currently. This way it is still obtainable by anyone and still has its value, and people who don't have the hat will have to work hard to get enough money for it just like the collectors did

thats an idea that would keep the hats value, but then the value would never change, sometimes the prices of these rare hats go up and down on the market depending on the player. If there was a set price there would be no negotiating. Mind you this is a better idea than re-releasing them...but then again theres no adventure to find them.

I agree that some players may be mad or upset if some rares are brought back but what about the new comers who have never heard of the items and will have to save up millions of gp just to get an item that was introduced years ago.
I think that at least the very old items should be reintroduced, such as the bottle of sand or towel or something similar.
That's just my thoughts on it.

Why do you want the bottle of sand? As far as I know, it's useless.
