I meant there are no logs of public or private chat on server side.
I thought soseki meant that there are.

Ahh like that. Yeah, nothing like that exists. TMW doesn't log any guild, chat or whispers.

mmh is it me or what does reading whispers have to do with this topic?^^

Even using /msg through a bot doesn't log those whispers but even if: just don't use it then :D

https://github.com/themanaworld/manamarket/pull/12 Ok, for simplicity sake it was added to ManaMarket as gosh doesn't work so well with sqllite.

But here is !mail and !lastseen. A code review and some testing soon, but should see it soon.

Will people on the server side be able to read mail left for users, or not? If so, I am against this, and so should anyone who wants to keep their messages confidential. I remember the last time somebody on the server side was able to read guild chat, and the drama that followed tainted this game's integrity for several long-time users, myself included.

Any in-game mail system will have to allow someone to administer it. Thus someone will be able to read it. No one will care to read your email unless someone says you continue to message them threats or what they deem inappropriate. If you don't like it or trust it, don't use it.

I propose making every message public, available for all to see. If you can read them, we should be allowed to read them too.

The current implementation deletes the mails as soon as they are delivered.

Why should anyone on the server side be able to read them? If they are messages that are not intended for them, then they have no business reading the messages, or having access to the database of messages. If a select group of self appointed people deem themselves to be the only people worthy of viewing the messages and having wholesale access to them, I think I'd like to hear a good reason why.

Do none of you remember the guild bot drama?

Do you want that again?

Maybe my question wasn't clear.. I meant: on what basis do you suggest that if server admins can read mail/messages then everyone should be able to?

As to why they should be able to - that is the wrong question. They would be able to due to their nature of being server admins. It would be possible to obscure the messages from admins, but that's more of a development burden.

If a person doesn't trust the people administering and running the game they play, they shouldn't play it.

Why do you think wushin or veryape got interest in the love letters Villain sends to you?

IIrc guild bot drama, was done by someone who wasn't even part of GHP at that time. What makes you think guild was changed and that it couldn't happen again? it could happen, it didn't cause people learned not to stick their nose where it doesn't belong.

They werent in GHP at the time but the GHP knew what the person was doing and said nothing to them. I know this because we were the guild they were reading logs from.

However the !lastseen and the messages being sent to others was on a friendly bot located inside the market house not long before and it was useful and awesome :) i enjoyed it. Had nothing to do with logging others PMs. I think it would be a nice feature :P Voted yes.

Why should anyone be interested in reading whispers/mails in a game? <.<
I believe eveyone has better things to do than checking when you plan to do Cindy's for the 123rd time.

If there's no interest in reading whispers and mail, then nobody on the server side should be able to read them. The fact that you're arguing in favour of granting people the ability to exploit users and invade their private messages should worry users of this game.
