I like both versions very much!

However, I think the interior part isn't dark enough, it looks more like a "wall" than a "fireplace floor". Remember that ash stains a lot!

And what is with the shiney chimney? Did you polish it? alt36
I think you need to add a low fence. With the high fence you can't add wood to the fire at all, and with no fence the wood may fall out.

That being said, now I want to eat a chocolate cupcake...

Some other tiles, I made them quite rapidly (check the hour of the post...) as I needed them on a map, I will add more variation tonight if possible.

I think that I'm done with this tileset, everything is on git and is already being used by 5-6 maps!
