Yes we're already working on a new version which should greatly improve performances, about the player numbers, well Graal it's a little older than TMW and has a bigger world and many things you can do, as soon as TMW will become more playable it will have more players, that's for sure. :D

We're currently using Allegro and while in itself this will not be causing you the 4 fps, the planned switch to SDL should make things run a lot smoother than is the case at the moment.

I think the 4 fps may be caused by attempting to use hardware while the hardware is actually rather slow, as in software I can't image such a low number would happen. Could this be the case for you? In any case you might be able to speed up the game a little by disableing 2xSaI by putting stretch mode on 0 in tmw.ini.

Changing stretch mode to 0 seems to have improved the FPS significantly, but it still displays it as being at 4-5. At least it's playable now, though. Thanks :)

By the way, what is that and why is it NOT set to 0 if it runs faster this way?

Using a stretch_mode different than 0 enables some filters such as 2xSaI and SuperEagle which are pretty slow, but gives a better graphic. But anyway don't worry, there will be soon a great fps increase. Just stay tuned
