I prefer mIRC, It is much better.

I moved to Linux as such my old mIRC license is useless, PM me if you use mIRC and need a license.

I actually ran Mirc under linux for a while.

If you are running KDE however, the IRC client built into most KDE distros is pretty decent.

Xchat is ok if you get the right version.

Irssi really is one of the best if you can tolerate console interfases. Xterm and Konsole both work ok with it. gnome-console is one of the better ones ironically, even though most of gnome is a mess at the moment. :P

Running irssi in a screen on a stable server is probably the most convenient and efficient way to do IRC.

Try kvirc. The best one for theses who like GUI client.

It run under Linux, Windows, Mac, FreeBSD, Solaris.. everything else where you can compile it

Really easy to use, and FREE - so long you use Linux, or else you are going to pay Bwhahaha :twisted:
