So botting has a process that needs to go through but what some player considers abuse in front of a GM will get one banned? Something doesnt seem right here.

GMs should not deal with community problems at all, just the bots. The community needs to grow up as a whole and stop being so damned petty. So what if someone insulted you, out in the real world what are you going to do? Run to the police? No...you ignore them. We have that function for a reason, NOT the GMs. Cursing, insults, 'abuse' can all be fixed with the ignore function and its easy to use. Someone even invented a Nuke patch so you can remove them from your screen even.

Come on people...most of us are thinking human beings...use your brain :?
Dyna, I KNOW that these are common sense things, but if there is one thing I've learnt in my years, its that you can never trust someone else's common sense!

A Post to highlight a few things never hurt anyone. And on the subject of abuse, I have only ever had to ban ONE person for abuse (IIRC) and only because what was said crossed a line that no one dare need cross.

To the people who don't see proactive bot checking anymore, there is a reason for that! Our most effective tools were taken away and replaced by... guess what... THE COMMUNITY!

I am supposed to do no more than wait for YOU PEOPLE to report bots to me, and unfortunatly without the ability to be invisible (which from all accounts, people complained about as being as invasion of privacy) I am unable to check for the more sophisticated, programmed bots, because when i arrive on a map, the bot senses a GM and turns AFK. Thats all good and well, but if I start banning people who I get reports about without the proof, not only will I cop the flak here on the forums and on IRC, but the game will be left with no players!!

WHY?? Because the community is a petty beast who, for most part, just want a GM to do something about their own personal grudges!

I believe that my job here is as much mediator as it is rule enforcement, and I've always said this.
I would rather help the community help themselves that need to babysit them all the time, but that being said, there are some people out there that make it ever so hard!!!

I enforce the rules as they are set out, my interpretation is my perogative, yet I believe my interpretation to be pretty damn reasonable.

2. There is freedom of speech, however, since absolute freedom is never possible, your freedom ends where someone else freedom is being harmed, this especialy concerns the freedom of this project management board - we make and take care of this game for free, our only payment is your happy faces and a "thank you". Therefore no lies, slander, false implications and baseless bitching is allowed.[/quote]

A GM stated you clear guidelines, and we have a god given right to remind you about those guidelines any time, especially when you act wild.

Yes, I am absent but still I come in game to listen what you have to say and I do monitor abuse section on forums.

You should be reasonable, GMs are not made to ban everyone who will tell that you are stupid or you stink, GMs are to handle serious abuse.

Regards.

Frankly all those confusions in the religious, royalty and anti-democratic fields don't seem to fit any serious Internet Community Standards :

... might you be ex-gratia or employee as :
  • Forum moderator
  • System administrator
  • Service provider
  • IRC regulator
these claims are simply unfounded and irrelevant ...

The bot check map is used frequently by developers because it allows us to test stuff without any players around who might be confused or annoyed by the test or even interfere with it.

When you are, for example, debugging the GUI for dropping items you don't want players around who pick up your dev cap.

Regarding the character I warped to botcheck a few days ago: I was investigating the detection avoidance capabilities of a newly released programmed bot.

And this is the point at which we go to the dogs, the usual trolls have taken over the topic.

LtCl KILGORE & Amuk, if you dont have anything constructive to add, please keep your needless thoughts to yourself.

If Platyna uses a religeous connotation in a post to express her thoughts on a matter, that is perfectly acceptable... Did it stress the point? Yes. Did everyone but you 2 understand what she was on about? Yes!

So if you want to see things change for the better around here, how about you use some of the energy you would normally use being useless pains in the arse for the greater good.

And for that specific thing you suck badly at. You should not mediate anything.

We never ask for any of your powers to be removed, we just ask for you to use them with respect for your postion and the community.

And we get this. edited to protect the innocent.

It's a game. If you have serious problems with it you should see a psychiatrist and perhaps take a week or two off of the drugs.

Dear "Cappy" GM, your nice post inside this Player talk section leaded me to a few remarks (involving yourself partly) :
  • I'm not a troll nor could be considered as such in loose sections areas so you would be kind to refer to my official rank : Lieutenant-Colonel
  • My post was totally thought about, nicely mind-generated and smartly expressed (at least IMHO, double checked from your own reply)
  • Permanent religious, monarchic and anti-democratic posts from this forum administrators lasts for such a long time that it can't be seriously taken as a simple fugitive and incidental reference ...
  • Things change here for sure (forum bans and posts deletions) but there is lesser and lesser people able to factually witness any of those changes, clearly not aimed to better their TMW experience ....
  • This GM cap doesn't seem to fit you at all "Cappy" Image(supposing your brain needs in capacity and volume to be normal),
so try using a XXL sized one : your neuronal behavior should return quickly to a functional status ...
  • Considering your post to be abusively and namely aggressive to me I used that smart Image function to report it :
now you are warned buddy !
~ I mean ... just stop that, god damn-it !
