Long time MMO player, I recently decided to take my computing in a different direction and installed the Ubuntu distro of Linux. One of the tutorial steps showed me how to use the package manager to download games, and I found this little gem still in development. Lot of potential here.

I found the game in Ubuntu's repository (Programs->Add/Remove Programs->Games->The Mana World, Apply Changes - it was a 5-click download+install) after I saw my brother playing a great-looking mmorpg.
I found the site by googling for "themanaworld".

I saw Mana World mentioned in a newspaper article about non-combat games. The article was primarily about Spore. I'm interested in other forms of computer "play" than combat/competition. When I tried Mana World, and saw the Wiki site, the complexity of it and the assistance available to people interested in contributing to its development, I was astonished.
I kept playing because I couldn't find any real walkthroughs or cheats

Usually I lose interest/patience with a game and just want to see all it's aspects to see how creative the developers are. Since I couldn't cheat or use a walkthrough, I've been "forced" to play. It's been fun but I'm spending [wasting] far too much time on it.
